Candidates were mostly out to garner votes of fence-sitters last night
Bangalore South Krishna Byre Gowda (Cong): His wife Meenakshi Sheshadri could not trace him till midnight. She said he was somewhere in Vijayanagar around 9.30 pm. In fact Krishna Byre Gowda had plans to visit areas where BJP was making a last ditch efforts to lure voters, but rain upset his plans, and he only met party workers to take stock. He was spotted in Ittamadu slum around 11.30 pm.
Ananth Kumar, BJP: He met party workers and allotted booth work. Kumar was at RPC Layout in Vijayanagar at 7 pm, and vanished after that.
K E Radha Krishna (JDS): He met community leaders and made calls to his friends to seek support. When MiD DAY called him at 10 pm, he was conducting a meeting at an undisclosed location. Rajesh Gundu Rao, Radhakrishna's election manager, said, "I can't reveal where we are, and who else is here. All that I can say is we are discussing strategy for tomorrow."
Bangalore (Central) H T Sangliyana (Cong): The cop-turned-politician spent the day visiting pockets around HAL Airport. Some voters complained of missing names on the list, and he assured help. He could do little at that hour. He retired at 10 pm.
Zameer Ahmed Khan (JDS): He was in C V Raman Nagar at 11 pm meeting party workers. "No home and no sleep," he said. He said he would vote at 10 am after performing namaz and visiting Kote Maramma temple at K R Market.
P C Mohan (BJP): He was in his election office at Chickpet till 9 pm, and was not traceable after that. Bangalore (North)
C K Jaffer Sharief (Cong): He stayed at home leaving all the fieldwork to his followers. His son's death was the reason.
D B Chandre Gowda (BJP): He set out with minister Katta Subramanya Naidu after 10 pm. Even their followers didn't know where they had disappeared.
Surendra Babu (JDS): His day began on a sad note. A campaigner close to him died of a heart attack. Surendra Babu attended the last rites. |
