Considered outspoken and blunt by many, Kirron Kher lends her voice to the BJP in the mother-of-all-polls
Many are shocked that a liberal like you would join a right-wing party like the BJP.
Parties that are appeasing minorities are only doing it to form a vote bank. The minorities that are too small in number don't ever matter to the Congress. What has been done for the four lakh Kashmiri pandits who are living in refugee camps in a Congress-governed state? And why is being pro-Hindu a bad thing? I'm a liberal joining the BJP instead of the so-called secular parties.
Why politics? Bollywood stars are often looked at with cynicism in politics. I felt that it was important to lend my voice. No one asked me to join the Congress though Anupam and I have in the past received tickets and even money to campaign on the party's behalf. Thankfully, the BJP didn't do the latter and that only justified my decision.
Will your relations with the Bachchans (SP supporters) now change? Why should it? There's been no change since they joined that party, so I don't think there should be any change in the relationship now.
Will you contest the next elections? No, I'm an actor and as a professional, that's what I want to keep doing. |
