Hence, it is unfair to expect change. Elections are drawing closer, but how many youngsters have registered online on the campaign for voting awareness Jaago Re! One Billion Votes.
If we demand change, we should try and work towards it. I asked a couple of people if they would cast their votes in the upcoming polls and pat came a reply from most what's the point? I don't care which party comes to power.
If this is the attitude of the ordinary citizen, he should not expect change. We should strive hard to bring about change.
Change has to be ushered in at grassroot levels. And to bring about significant change, we have to study the political parties and candidates contesting the elections. Jaago re! For its not too late yet.
Grab this chanceGeneral elections are fast approaching. This is one chance for the common man to be vigilant and not get brainwashed by politicians.
Political parties are calculating, and have their agenda fixed. They will bank on religion and muscle power to win party tickets. As a result many undeserving candidates are usually thrust upon the electorate. But the public should not take this lying down.
The common man should scrutinise those contesting elections. Only politicians who are free of criminal charges should given tickets, and we should do our part by only voting for clean candidates.
Also, politicians should be made accountable for their actions. They should attend every Assembly session and every meeting. Under no circumstances should they disrupt the proceedings of the house by indulging in unruly behaviour.
We do not need immature leaders. But unless the voters are vigilant, electing the right candidate will not be possible. Every citizen must come out and vote. It is our right as well as duty.
Are you ready?
