Mumbai: Union Minister and NCP leader Praful Patel, who filed his nomination papers from Bhandara-Gondia seat for the April 16 Lok Sabha elections, is one of the richest candidates in Vidarbha region, having assets worth around Rs 38 crore.
According to the affidavit filed by Patel, Civil Aviation Minister, before Bhandara returning Officer Sambhajirao Sarkunde, he has bank deposits of Rs 3,18,322, while his wife Varshaben has Rs 3,62,038.
His bonds, debentures and shares in companies are worth Rs 4.61 crore and he has National Saving Scheme certificates to the tune of Rs 21.70 lakh. Patel, who has a family business of beedi manufacturing in Gondia, owns 1.83 kg gold, 24 kg silver and precious stones worth Rs 67,92,600.
The Rajya Sabha MP's wife Varshaben has 2.89 kg gold and 59 kg silver worth Rs 1,33,34,599.
Their son Prajay owns 6.78 kg gold and other jewellery worth Rs 1,33,29,865. Varshaben owns non agriculture land worth Rs 2.76 crore in Anand (Gujarat) and residential premises in same town is valued at Rs 27.94 lakh.
Patel's house in Dr Annie Besant Marg at Worli, Mumbai, is worth Rs 29.27 crore. He is holding shares of book value of Rs 2,81,18,487. His wife has taken loan of Rs 21,07,58,853 from Bank of India, Santacruz branch, (Mumbai), according to the affidavit.
