Priya Dutt says Opposition helped her win

It was a victory margin Priya Dutt never expected. When asked whether MNS played a role in her victory, an elated Priya Dutt attributed her victory to all the opposition including the MNS candidate in her constituency.

Dutt won with a margin of 1,77,595 votes over Mahesh Jethmalani.

"We focused on my work for three-and-a-half years and did not discuss the opposition. We spent our energies in a positive manner and told the people what we have done and are going to do," Dutt said.

Dutt also claimed she had won because of her parents and thanked Congress President Sonia Gandhi. "The voters have given a correct mandate," Dutt added.

Dutt played it safe when asked about her induction into the Union Cabinet "I have no suggestions." Dutt also had a word of praise for her husband Owen Roncon, who took some of her burden on the home front and on the work front.

Roncon was one of the main drivers of the Dutt campaign along with Krishna Hegde and several others in her constituency.

"Although I cannot define my exact role, I was part of everything in the campaign," Roncon said.
