Rescue and search is operation underway in Ganderbal Nowgam area of Srinagar. 3 people are still missing in the boat capsizing incident that occurred in the Jhelum River yesterday. According to DC Srinagar, Six bodies have been found so far. Officials said that the rescue operation continued till 11 pm last night but was halted due to darkness and heavy water flow in the river Jhelum. On 16th of April, in a tragic accident a boat carrying school children overturned in the Jhelum river in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Srinagar Administration had launched a rescue operation in the area. A State Disaster Response Force team was also deployed. At least six persons including four children were found dead. 4 bodies were recovered, while others were missing. Continuous rains over last two days led to an increase in the water levels of several water bodies, including Jhelum.

In a shocking incident, Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs were marshalled out of Delhi Assembly on raising slogans over slogans over Delhi Jal Board alleged scam on 8th of April. The BJP MLAs staged a protest near Mahatma Gandhi's statue inside the Assembly premises. The BJP legislators started demanding a discussion on alleged irregularities in the DJB. Ther's a lot of political crisis going on in Hiamchal Pradesh right now. Six Congress MLAs who cross voted in favour of the Bhartiya Janta Party during the Rajya Sabha election, have been disqualified by Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania. The detained MLA's include Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Devinder Kumar Bhutoo, Ravi Thakur, and Chetanya Sharma. With the six rebel MLAs disqualified the strength of the house comes down from 68 to 62 and the halfway mark is 32. With the loss of 6 MLAs the Congress now has 34 MLAs and the BJP with independents has 28. The fortunes of the Congress will now rest on its ability to keep the rest of its flock together.

Former Maharashtra chief minister Manohar Joshi passed away at the age of 86. Reportedly, he suffered a cardiac arrest on 21st February, Thursday and was immediately admitted to the ICU of P D Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. Manohar Joshi passed away at around 3am on Friday due to age-related health complications. The news was confirmed by P D Hinduja Hospital chief operating officer Joy Chakravarty. Manohar Joshi had been suffering from health issues since May 2023. He suffered a brain hemorrhage, the previous year and since then his health wasn't in good shape. Born in Raigad district of Maharashtra in a Brahmin family, Joshi did his master of Arts and LLB from Mumbai University. He began his political career by being elected to the Legislative Council and served three terms from 1972 to 1989. He also became the Mayor of Mumbai from 1976 to 1977. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly from a Shiv Sena ticket in 1990. He served as CM of Maharashtra from 1995-1999. He was elected for a six-year term to the Rajya Sabha on 20 March 2006 after being defeated in the previous Lok Sabha election in the Central Mumbai constituency.

After violence broke out in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali, BJP formed a six-member committee of Union Ministers, MPs. Committee members will visit Sandeshkhali and collect information about the alleged sexual harassment, violence against women. Tension simmered in the Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas district's Basirhat subdivision on Feb 13. BJP workers led by state party president Sukanta Majumdar protested against the alleged sexual harassment of women. Local women have been agitating over atrocities committed against them allegedly by TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh. Majumdar sustained injuries during the police lathicharge as a scuffle broke out between the police and party workers. On Feb 14, WB Governor, LOP Suvendu Adhikari reached Apollo Hospital to enquire about Sukanta Majumdar's health. The administration has imposed Sector 144 of CrPC in the area till February 19 to maintain law and order amid the ongoing tensions due to Sandeshkhali horror.
