Delhi Liquor Policy Scam: BRS leader K Kavitha arrested after raids

Bharat Rashtra Samithi working President KT Rama Rao and BRS Leader Harish Rao Thanneeru arrived at K Kavitha’s residence on March 15. BRS leader was arrested after raids at her residence. The ED had conducted raids at the residence of K Kavitha in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case. Bharatiya Janata Party leader Madhavi Latha lashed out at BRS leader K Kavitha following her arrest in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam.

Income Tax sleuths have recovered more than Rs 200 crore cash in the Dheeraj Sahu IT Raids from several locations in Odisha and Jharkhand. Now, PM Modi took a jibe at Congress and said, “Who needs 'Money Heist' fiction, when Congress is there.” Prime Minister Modi further said, “Congress Party’s heists are legendary for 70 years and counting.” “In India, who needs 'Money Heist' fiction, when you have the Congress Party, whose heists are legendary for 70 years and counting!” However, after facing heat, Congress on Dec 09 said that the party is in no way connected with the businesses. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Dheeraj Sahu can explain the huge amounts of cash. "The Indian National Congress is in no way connected with the businesses of Dheeraj Sahu, MP. Only he can explain, and should explain, how huge amounts of cash have been reportedly unearthed by the income-tax authorities from his properties." Bharatiya Janata Party is leaving no stone unturned to attack the INDIA bloc, Congress over the incident.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday hit out at the INDIA bloc over the silence maintained by its leaders after the recovery of cash worth ₹353 crore from the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu. Attacking the parties on the Dheeraj Sahu IT raids, Amit Shah said, “I understand Congress is silent as corruption is in their nature but JDU, RJD, DMK, and SP all are sitting silently...Now I understand why a campaign was run against PM Modi that agencies are being misused. It was run because there was a fear in their mind that all the secrets of their corruption would be revealed.”

"Every penny looted will be returned" PM Modi strongly reacts after IT recovers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Smriti Irani hit out at Congress on December 08 after crores of rupees were recovered from Congress party MP Dheeraj Kumar Sahu's premises during Income Tax raids. As the raids entered the third day, Income Tax sleuths recovered more than Rs 200 crore cash from several locations in Odisha and Jharkhand. The residences of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu were also searched. Reacting to the Incident PM Modi shared a post on his X handle stating "Countrymen should look at these piles of currency notes and then hear the addresses of its (Congress) leaders on honesty. Every penny looted from people will have to be returned. This is Modi's guarantee.”

Hamas, meanwhile, accused Israel of targeting citizens fleeing northern Gaza. Israel responded with massive air strikes deep inside the coastal enclave, killing scores and wounding hundreds giving a warning to the residents of Gaza, Netanyahu said that they would operate forcefully everywhere. The Western Nations have extended support to Israel including the US, the UK, and France.

MP Sanjay Singh arrested in Delhi Liquor Case, AAP supporters revolt

Amid lusty sloganeering from party supporters, ED on Oct 04 arrested AAP’s Sanjay Singh from his Delhi residence. The Rajya Sabha MP was arrested in connection with with the now-scrapped liquor policy case. His was the second high-profile arrest in the case after former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The arrest came hours after the ED conducted raids at the residence of the AAP Rajya Sabha MP in connection with the case. As word of his arrest got out, various AAP workers gathered outside Singh's residence, condemning his arrest. Meanwhile, Sanjay Singh’s family alleged that ED officials couldn’t find anything and misbehaved with them. Before his arrest the AAP MP said, “Cowardly and dictatorial Prime Minister wants to win elections this way.”The AAP leader alleged further that the officers misused their position to tarnish his public image and demanded prosecution against them. He added that he had already sent a legal notice to the officers concerned to issue an open and public apology. As per to ED, name of the AAP leader appears four times in the ED chargesheet, one of which was typed inadvertently. At one place Sanjay Singh's name was mentioned instead of Rahul Singh, who was the then excise commissioner.

ED raids AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh's house in Delhi Liquor case

A Directorate Enforcement (ED) raid is underway at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in connection with excise policy case. The ED raid has been condemned by various parties of opposition INDIA group alliance, while the BJP leaders are attacking AAP and Arwind Kejriwal for being corrupt. Reacting to the raid, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "Nothing will be found at his residence and this is the govt's strategy before 2024 general elections. RJD MP Manoj Jha also resonated Kejriwal's words. Meanwhile, BJP workers are carrying protests outside AAP office demanding Kejriwal's resignation. BJP Leader Gaurav Bhatia and Manoj Tiwari said Kejriwal is the kingpin of the liquor scam.

Delhi Police raid NewsClick journalists' homes amid China funding row

Raids at different premises allegedly linked to NewsClick are underway at over 30 locations by Delhi Police. NewsClick journalists were seen with Delhi Police Special Cell officials. However, no arrest has been made as of now. Documents and electronics belonging to the persons associated with NewsClick were seized. Delhi High Court, on Aug 22, issued notice to NewsClick's Editor-in-Chief Prabir Purkayastha on a plea filed by Delhi Police's EOW. According to the FIR, a case was registered under UAPA and other IPC sections and an investigation was launched. During the probe, the sleuths gathered evidence indicating criminal acts. FIR states that accused persons, in conspiracy with their accomplices based abroad, devised a deceitful scheme to obtain, and receive funds. As per the same FIR, these funds were used to undertake activities as per instructions received from their foreign-based benefactors. Earlier, ED also moved the Delhi High Court against NewsClick and its editor-in-chief through a fresh application. ED’s application stated that it was a case of grave criminal conspiracy for paid news. Mumbai Police officials reached activist Teesta Setalvad's residence in the same matter. Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur reacted to the same and said, “search agencies are free to carry out investigations against wrongdoers”.
