Just weeks before the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sustained a significant injury on March 14, leading to her hospitalization. Rushed to SSKM Hospital by TMC GS Abhishek Banerjee, she bore a serious forehead wound. While TMC All India Trinamool Congress briefed her well-wishers about the incident, no official statement was released. Kunal Ghosh had foreseen a mishap at her residence. Despite this, an outpouring of support was witnessed from her followers outside the hospital. Meanwhile, leaders including Delhi CM Kejriwal, TN CM MK Stalin, WB BJP Prez Sukanta Majumdar, and others expressed their hopes for her swift recovery. Following her admission, she was transferred from Woodburn Block to the Trauma Care Centre. This incident echoes prior injuries sustained before the WB Legislative Assembly Elections in 2021 and the Panchayat Polls in 2023.

The Indian Air Force's An-32 aircraft, which went missing over the Bay of Bengal in 2016, has been discovered seven years later. On July 22, 2016, the airplane had inexplicably disappeared over the Bay of Bengal, carrying 29 people. The airplane search and rescue operation grew to be one of India's largest. On August 1, 2016, it was discovered that the aircraft lacked an underwater location beacon, and the rescue effort was called off on September 15, 2016. The National Institute of Ocean Technology employed an AUV to identify a missing aircraft on the seabed about 310 kilometers off the coast of Chennai. The search was carried out at a depth of 3400 m with various payloads. The search images were scrutinized and found to be conforming with an An-32 aircraft.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri announced a new oil discovery in the country. Hardeep Singh Puri said that the first oil was extracted yesterday 30 kilometres off the coast of Kakinada in the Krishna Godavari Basin. Hardeep Singh Puri said, “30 kilometres off the coast of Kakinada in the Krishna Godavari Basin, the first oil was extracted yesterday. Work started on this in 2016-17, then there were some delays due to COVID, but I'm sure that out of the 26 wells there, 4 wells are already operational. We will not only have gas also in a very short period but by May and June, we hope to be able to produce 45,000 barrels per day, which will be 7 per cent of our total crude oil production and 7 per cent of our gas production.” Narendra Taneja said, “This is a huge step. They first conduced a search operation in deep sea near Krishna-Godavari Basin and then started production. We have now started 47,000 barrels of ONGC production from there. In future, it will be 75000 barrels.” The place where the oil is extracted is 30 kilometres off the coast of Kakinada in the Krishna Godavari basin. Phase 3, leading to peak oil and gas production from the basin, is already underway and likely to be over in June 2024. The 98/2 project is likely to increase Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)'s total Oil and Gas production by 11 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. India, the world's third-biggest oil importer and consumer, is dependent on crude oil from various sources in the global market to meet its domestic demand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Smriti Irani hit out at Congress on December 08 after crores of rupees were recovered from Congress party MP Dheeraj Kumar Sahu's premises during Income Tax raids. As the raids entered the third day, Income Tax sleuths recovered more than Rs 200 crore cash from several locations in Odisha and Jharkhand. The residences of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu were also searched. Amid the Israel-Hamas Conflict, The sight of destruction in Gaza is far from ending as the conflict between Israel-Palestine entered day 26. Thousands of Israeli missiles continued to pound Hamas’ targets killing top commanders of the militant group. Massive bombings, explosions were heard near the Gaza border on Oct 27 after Israel stepped up its operations. Also, an IAF aircraft, guided by ground forces, struck a Hamas post killing over 20 terrorist operatives in it, said IDF. Meanwhile, a new visual emerged from Gaza which showed Israeli soldiers entering Gaza strip. Armed soldiers, rolling tanks could be seen launching its ground operation inside Gaza. Ground troops struck Hamas outpost in the northern area of Gaza strip, including anti-tank missile launching cells and posts. The tunnels under the cramped enclave are a prime objective for Israel as it expands a four-day-old ground offensive. Also, 8,525 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since Oct 7, said Gaza health authorities.

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, the string of anti-Jewish protests by pro-Palestinians held across the world gained a major flash point on October 29. Scores of Pro-Palestinians carried Palestinian flag and chanted religious slogans at Dagestan Airport in Russia. The ‘angry’ crowd invaded the airport facility hunting for Jewish passengers, demonstrating against war in Gaza. Hundreds of protesters were seen entering the air terminal and then storming various rooms inside. The mob also scuffled with airport police and they reportedly blocked the runway and tried to overturn a police vehicle. Soon after the incident, Israel urged Russian authorities to protect Israelis and Jews in their jurisdictions. However, Russian Aviation Authority Rosaviatsia said that all "unauthorised citizens" had been removed from Makhachkala Airport. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy launched an attack on Russia over the incident.
