Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on April 13 talked about the sequence of events that led to the arrest of the Bengaluru café blast case suspects from West Bengal. Talking to ANI, the Home Minister praised the NIA and Karnataka Police for arresting the accused. He also raised doubts about their involvement in Shivamogga blast. “NIA has done a wonderful job. Our Karnataka police have done a wonderful job. Both of them hail from Karnataka. They studied together. I was told initially that they are from Thirthahalli, Shivamogga district. We will find out whether they have any links with the other agencies. These two were supposed to have been involved in the earlier Shivamogga blast. They had escaped for almost 3-4 years. And now after this incident, they are caught. NIA will investigate further. And then our police also will find out because they are originally from Karnataka. So let us wait and see what comes out of the investigation...” said G Parameshwara.

Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui is yet again in limelight. Let us tell you that the Bigg Boss 17 winner along with 13 other people were detained by Mumbai police on Mar 26. They were detained in a late-night raid from a hookah parlour in the Fort area in south Mumbai. Munawar was one of the popular contestants of the 17th season of the Bigg Boss house. According to the Mumbai Police, a case was registered against Faruqui and 13 more people. The raid, prompted by a tip-off received by the SS branch, targeted the hookah bar situated at Bora Bazar, falling within the jurisdiction of MRA Marg police station. After verifying that tobacco was being smoked, an offence was registered under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act However, the stand up comedian was later let off after the case was lodged. A police officer said that since it was a bailable offence, the accused were not imprisoned.

She said PM Modi is scared of Arvind Kejriwal as he is the only one who can challenge him so he wants to eliminate him. "BJP's political weapon ED arrested Kejriwal in a fake case. In a case which even after two years of investigation not even single Rupee proceeds of crime was recovered from any of the AAP leaders. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested after the ECI announced the dates of Lok Sabha elections in a case whose investigation has been on for two years ," said Atishi Marelna while addressing a press conference at party headquarters in Delhi.

Qatar released 8 Ex-Navy veterans who were detained in Doha on alleged espionage charges. 7 out of 8 ex-Navy veterans reached India safely on Feb 12 from Qatar after months of captivity. Saurabh Vashisht, one of the Ex-Indian Navy veterans who returned home, expressed his feelings. His family was overwhelmed on his return and thanked PM Modi, EAM Jaishankar for their intervention. As Govt managed to bring back its Navy veterans from Qatar, it is one of the biggest diplomatic wins for India. Former Navy men were accused of allegedly spying on a submarine programme and were sentenced to Qatar death penalty. Following intervention by India’s MEA, the capital punishment was later commuted to an extended prison term. Seven of the total eight former Indian Navy personnel returned home from Qatar on February 12. Notably, PM Modi met with Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the sidelines of COP 28 Summit in Dubai. COP 28 Summit was held from 30 Nov till 12 Dec 2023, after the Qatar authorities had announced their verdict in the case. The release of the Navy personnel accused of espionage marks a big diplomatic win for India. It also shows the strengthening of bilateral relations between India and Qatar.

Setting foot to their homeland after several agonizing months of captivity in Qatar, seven of the eight Indian navy veterans who were sentenced to death on 'espionage' charges, heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying they wouldn't have been freed had it for the sustained diplomatic efforts at his behest to secure their release. Relieved to finally walk free, the seven former Navy officers raised chants of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' after arriving at the Delhi airport in the early hours of Feb 12. One of the Navy veterans who returned from Qatar after being freed from the Qatar Death Penalty said, "We waited almost for 18 months to be back in India. We are extremely grateful to the PM. It wouldn't have been possible without his intervention and his equation with Qatar. We are grateful to the Government of India from the bottom of our hearts for every effort that has been made and this day won't have been possible without those efforts."

A major security breach took place in the Lok Sabha today as two unidentified persons jumped into the Lok Sabha Chamber from visitors’ Gallery. Delhi Police Special Cell DCP Rajiv Ranjan arrived at Parliament Street to investigate the security breach. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla said that the two persons who jumped into the Lok Sabha Chamber have been nabbed and the materials with them have also been seized. The two people outside the Parliament have also been arrested by Police. Qatar shocked India with its recent verdict against the eight former Indian Navy officers. The eight former naval personnel were sentenced to death by the Court of First Instance of Qatar. Reacting to the 2023 Qatar espionage case, Indian Navy Chief said, “Govt putting all-out efforts to bring them back”. India called the ruling 'deeply shocking' and deployed all diplomatic channels to engage with Qatar on this case. In November, a court of appeal in Qatar accepted the Indian Govt’s application against the death sentence. The 8 former Indian Navy personnel were arrested in August 2022 for alleged espionage in Qatar. They were employees of Dahra Global, a Doha-based private defence services provider.
