Tamil Nadu Rains: Drone Visuals show lakes overflow as rain unleashes fury

The rain has unleashed its fury in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. The IMD has issued a 'Red' alert for Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tiruvaneli and Kanyakumari districts. 40 lakes in the Kovilpatti area of Thoothukudi district have reached full capacity. According to IMD, heavy rain was expected to occur in one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Thoothukudi. It has been raining continuously since the morning of December 17 in Kovilpatti and areas of Thoothukudi. On December 19, thunderstorms and lightning are likely to occur at one or two places in Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu government has taken precautionary measures to ensure people's safety following the Tamil Nadu rains.

Himachal Rains: '16 bodies recovered so far', NDRF personnel gives information

The rescue operations in rain-battered Shimla entered day six on August 19. Joint rescue operations are underway by NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army and local people. So far, 16 bodies, among 20 people have been recovered from the Summer Hill area of Shimla. Over 70 people have lost their lives in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh due to the deadly monsoon. Moreover, the state has suffered a loss of more than 7,500 crores, as per the govt reports.

Himachal Rains: Watch| Indian Air Force rescues over 780 people in Kangra

Incessant rains in Himachal Pradesh this week wreaked havoc as it triggered landslides across the state, blocking roads, bringing down houses, and causing damage to life and property. Teams of the State Disaster Response Force have been involved in rescue operations. The Indian Air Force also joined the operations evacuating people to safer places in the state’s Kangra district. In a tweet  the Indian Air Force said it carried out over 50 sorties and rescued over 780 people. Speaking about the rescue operations Deputy Commissioner of Kangra Nipun Jindal gave information.

The drone visuals show that the water levels of the Beas River have risen again. The tourists including foreigners were also stranded in Balh Valley in HP’s Mandi district. Chandigarh-Manali National Highway has also been closed because of the weather conditions. On August 12, IMD issued an Orange alert for several districts of Himachal Pradesh.

Noida witnesses heavy rains; hundreds of cars submerged

Parts of Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on July 26, bringing respite from hot and humid conditions. Due to the downpour, parts of Delhi-NCR experienced waterlogging. Meanwhile, several areas of Noida witnessed severe waterlogging. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded in Noida’s Echotech area due to a rise in the water level of the Hindon River on July 25. The vehicles were seen almost submerged in the water making it ‘Water Parking’. Several houses were also submerged in the low-lying areas on July 23. Light to moderate rains were witnessed in parts of the NCR, including Noida, in the early hours of July 25. Amidst heavy rainfall in parts of the country, the IMD has issued alerts for Maharashtra, Haryana, Chandigarh, UP, Rajasthan, HP, and Uttarakhand.

Heavy rainfall was witnessed in several areas of Mumbai on July 19. The India Metrological Department has issued a Red Alert for Palghar and Raigad districts. Also, an Orange Alert has been issued for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri. Heavy showers resulted in flooding at Rasayani police station in Raigad district on Wednesday morning, hampering the work,Due to the downpour, a flood-like situation was witnessed in parts of the district. Meanwhile, Raigad District Collector Yogesh Mhase announced a holiday for all schools and colleges in the district today in view of heavy rains.

Delhi Rains: Drone visuals show flooded Yamuna; water level expected to recede

Yamuna River continued to overflow and several areas remained inundated on July 17. However, the water level of the Yamuna River continued to recede on July 16. It was recorded at 205.50 metres at 11 pm at Old Yamuna Bridge (Loha Pul). Though the water level is still above the danger mark of 205.33 metres, it is expected to come down soon. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 17 teams for rescue work in flood-affected districts in Delhi. 1,606 people have been rescued. Moreover, 7241 people and 956 livestock have been evacuated by the NDRF teams. Further, pre-hospital treatment has been given to 908 rescued persons. Around 26,401 people have been evacuated from the flood-affected low-lying areas of six districts of Delhi, out of which around 21,504 people are staying in 44 camps.

As the Yamuna continued to overflow and several areas remain inundated in Delhi, a snake was spotted in Loha Pul area as on July 16. There has been a sharp increase in the sightings of snakes in the city after the recent flooding. Yamuna water has gradually begun receding slowly in Delhi. The latest water level of Yamuna was recorded at 205.95 meters at 10 am on July 16. Notably, Yamuna’s danger level in Delhi is at 205.33 meters. Yamuna water level is likely to fall below the danger mark in the next few hours
