Citizenship Amendment Act: Hardeep Singh slams those criticizing CAA

Citizenship Amendment Act: Hardeep Singh slams those criticizing CAA

PM Modi implemented CAA on March 11. Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri took a sharp jibe at the political leaders opposing Citizenship Amendment Act. He said, “There are persecuted minorities in some of our neighbouring countries- Buddhists, Christians, Jains, Hindus, Sikhs, among others... In 1947, the population of Hindus in Pakistan was 24% which stands at 1% today. In erstwhile East Pakistan, there was a certain Hindu population but now there are just 7%. Some of these people who came to India before 2014 are being given a right. The people who are suddenly worried that these few immigrants will take away all jobs and resources need to know that our population is 140 crores and only 1000 people have registered on the portal so far. The number of people who had applied for citizenship under the Citizenship Act of 1955 is also just 4000. What is this completely distorted picture which is being presented? This is not about religion.

Chandrayaan-3: Second and final de-boosting operation successfully executed

Chandrayaan-3: Second and final de-boosting operation successfully executed

Chandrayaan-3 - ISRO’s lunar mission is in its final stage now. The spacecraft inched closer to the Moon on August 20 with the successful execution of its second and final de-boosting operation. The module manoeuvred itself into an orbit with the closest approach to the Moon at 25 km x 134 km. This orbit sets the stage for a soft landing attempt in the uncharted south-polar region of the Moon. If this mission is conducted successfully, India will become the first country to reach the south pole of the Moon. On July 14, the nation witnessed the historic lift-off of the Chandrayaan-3 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Chandrayaan-3: ISRO shares breathtaking visuals of the moon

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently shared stunning visuals of the moon captured by the Lander Position Detection Camera on August 15 and captured by the Lander Imager (LI) Camera-1 on August 17. Apart from that, Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander underwent a crucial deboosting manoeuvre and descended to a slightly lower orbit on Friday, after successfully getting separated from the propulsion module the day before. The deboosting manoeuvre was scheduled at around 1600 IST.

Lander successfully separated from propulsion module of Chandrayaan-3

ISRO’s lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 is on track as the spacecraft inches closer to the Moon. In a massive success, Chandrayaan-3’s Lander Module separated from Propulsion Module on August 17. On August 16, the spacecraft completed all of its lunar bound maneuvers. Now, the lander module is set to descend to a slightly lower orbit upon a deboosting planned for August 18. The soft landing on the south pole of the Moon will be attempted on August 23. India will likely become the first country to reach the less explored south pole of the Moon after successful landing. Chandrayaan-3’s lift-off happened on July 14 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Siharikota.

Chandrayaan-3 successfully performs second orbit-raising maneuver

Chandrayaan-3 successfully performs second orbit-raising maneuver

Chandrayaan-3 has successfully performed second orbit-raising maneuver (Earth-bound apogee firing). The spacecraft is now in 41603 km x 226 km orbit. The next firing is planned for tomorrow between 2 and 3 pm IST. Chandrayaan-3 was launched on GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle successfully from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota as per scheduled launch time. The journey from Earth to the moon for the spacecraft is estimated to take about a month and the landing is expected on August 23. Upon landing, it will operate for one lunar day, which is approximately 14 Earth days. One day on the Moon is equal to 14 days on Earth.Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission, will make India the fourth country after US, China, and Russia, to land its spacecraft on the surface of the moon and demonstrate the country’s abilities for safe and soft landing on lunar surface. Chandrayaan-3 is the ISRO's follow-up attempt after the Chandrayaan-2 mission faced challenges during its soft landing on the lunar surface in 2019 and was eventually deemed to have failed its core mission objectives. Chandrayaan-3 will be inserted into the Lunar Transfer Trajectory after the orbit raising maneuvers. Covering a distance of over 300,000 km, it will reach the moon in the coming weeks. Scientific instruments onboard will study the Moon’s surface and enhance our knowledge. Chandrayaan-3 is equipped with a lander, a rover and a propulsion module. It weighs around 3,900 kilograms. Moon serves as a repository of the Earth’s past and a successful lunar mission by India will help enhance life on Earth while also enabling it explore the rest of the solar system and beyond.

ISRO Chief explains what is different in Chandrayaan-3

ISRO Chairman, S Somanath on July 10 gave details of ISRO’s lunar mission Chandrayaan-3. He explained how this time ISRO has prepared for the lunar mission differently from Chandrayaan-2.  Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is scheduled to launch India’s third lunar mission to Earth’s lone natural satellite on July 14. Through this mission, ISRO plans to send a lander and a rover to the Moon. The Chandrayaan-3 mission is a follow-on to the Chandrayaan-2 mission, which ended in failure after the Vikram lander crashed into the lunar surface.  If ISRO is successful in pulling off the mission, India will join the exclusive list of countries whose satellites have managed a soft landing on the lunar surface. There are currently just three countries on that list: China, the United States, and the former Soviet Union.
