A major fire broke out at the Ghazipur landfill site in Delhi on April 21. The fire continued to blaze for 2nd day on April 22 despite massive operations by firefighters. As per Delhi Fire Service, the fire was caused by gas produced in the landfill. Smoke from the blazing landfill has created a blanket of haze in the surrounding area causing trouble for locals. The nearby locals blamed the Delhi Government for negligence. It is suspected that the fire broke out due to methane gas. The fire started by itself or was started by someone. Corporation and police are investigating the matter. Watch video for more.

As part of the ongoing exercise Gagan Shakti-24, Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft recently operated from the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) in the northern sector in Kashmir valley. A large number of troops were airlifted and subsequently air landed utilising Chinook, Mi-17 V5 and ALH Mk-III helicopters by night.IAF also plans to practise similar drills in coordination with administration of State Governments for activation of ELFs in other sectors. Various IAF fixed and rotary wing platforms will carry out coordinated landing and operations at these ELFs. Whole-of-the-Nation-Approach (WNA). ELF operations provide an opportunity for IAF aircraft to undertake operations from such restricted landing surfaces while also being able to undertake Humanitarian Assistance in Disaster Relief operations during times of natural calamities to provide relief. The capability to operate by night at these stretches of highways, and the capability to transfer troops from such surfaces will greatly enhance the operational capabilities of Indian Armed Force.

PM accused the Congress and former PM Indira Gandhi of weakening India’s unity, integrity and interests. PM took to X and wrote that Congress “callously” gave away the island of Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka. Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed and vehicles plunged into the river on Mar 26 after a ship collided with one of the pillars. Daylight drone visuals showed the extent of damage the bridge suffered sending cars and people into the river. Following the incident, US Secretary of Transportation emphasised that the path to normalcy after the bridge collapse would not be easy. Meanwhile, locals recalled the moment of collapse and one of them said the noise was felt in the house. The Maryland state police on March 27 informed that six people who were missing after the bridge collapsed incident have been presumed dead. The ship was identified as a Singapore-flagged container ship, the Dali which was bound for Sri Lanka.
