ISRO’s ‘Space Odyssey’: ‘Aditya L1’ successfully performs fourth manoeuvre

As a part of ISRO’s ‘Space Odyssey’, Aditya L1 - India’s first solar mission successfully performed the fourth earth-bound manoeuvre on September 15. ISRO's ground stations at Mauritius, Bengaluru, SDSC-SHAR and Port Blair tracked the satellite during the operation. Meanwhile, a transportable terminal currently stationed in the Fiji Islands for Aditya-L1 will support post-burn operations. ISRO taking to the platform X (formerly Twitter) informed that the new orbit attained is 256 km x 121973 km. The next manoeuvre for Trans-Lagragean Point 1 Insertion (TL1I) is scheduled for September 19 around 02:00 Hrs. IST. After the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the Moon, ISRO started its new space mission on September 2. ISRO launched its maiden solar mission ‘Aditya-L1’ to study Sun from point L1. The satellite will travel approximately 15 million kilometres to reach the L1 point. The total travel time from launch pad to L1 will take about four months for ‘Aditya-L1’.

Russia on Aug 11 launched the Luna-25 mission to Moon’s South Pole, its first lunar lander in 47 years. Greetings and best wishes were extended from India’s end on the successful launch of the Luna-25 mission. Taking to Twitter, ISRO wished for both Chandrayaan-3 and Luna-25 and said, “Another Meeting Point”. Russian lunar mission, the first since 1976, is racing against India’s Chandrayaan-3 for Moon’s South Pole. Just like India’s Chandrayaan-3, Russia aims to make a soft landing on the lunar south pole. Notably, Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission, lifted off back on July 14.

ISRO successfully launches GSLV F-12 from Sriharikota

ISRO launched 2nd Gen Navigational satellite GSLV-F12 from Sriharikota, AP on May 29. GSLV mission designed to deploy the NVS-01 navigation satellite into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. NVS-01 is the first of 2nd gen satellites envisaged for Navigation with Indian Constellation services. This satellite will provide real-time services over India and will enhance monitoring and navigation. For the first time, an indigenous atomic clock will be flown in NVS-01.

“India achieved it…” Journey of ISRO’s Reusable Launch Vehicle LEX

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully conducted the autonomous test landing mission of the Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) at the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) in Karnataka's Chitradurga on April 2. A statement issued by ISRO said, "India achieved it. ISRO joined by DRDO successfully conducted the Reusable Launch Vehicle Autonomous Landing Mission (RLV LEX) at the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR), Chitradurga, Karnataka in the early hours on April 2, 2023." According to the statement, the RLV took off at 7:10 am by a Chinook Helicopter of the Indian Air Force. The release of RLV was autonomous. Then using the Integrated Navigation, Guidance & control system, the RLV completed an autonomous landing on the ATR at 7:40 AM. With that, ISRO successfully achieved the autonomous landing of a space vehicle.
