Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged excise policy scam, on March 23, issued a video statement on Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest and reads out the CM's message from jail. "There are several forces within and outside India that are weakening the country. We have to be alert, identify these forces and defeat them...Women in Delhi must be thinking that Kejriwal is behind bars. Who knows if they would get Rs 1000. I appeal to them to trust their brother, their son. There is no jail that can keep him behind bars for long. I will come out soon and keep my promise," said Sunita Kejriwal.

Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Court sends Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to ED custody

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Delhi CM Kejriwal on March 23 in connection with the alleged Delhi Liquor scam case. The Rouse Avenue Court on March 22 sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to ED custody till March 28. The agency had sought 10 days of remand. The AAP Chief was produced before the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja. Senior Advocates Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Vikram Chaudhari, and Ramesh Gupta along with Advocates Rajat Bharadwaj, Mudit Jain and Mohd Irshad appeared for the Delhi CM Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal Arrest was executed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy case on Thursday after the Delhi High Court refused interim protection to him from coercive action in connection with the excise policy case. The case pertains to alleged irregularities and money laundering in framing and implementing the Delhi Excise Policy 2022, which was later scrapped.

Opposition leaders slam BJP over arrest of Kejriwal in Excise Policy Case

Following the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal by ED in the Excise Policy Case, opposition leaders reacted to the arrest and slammed Bharatiya Janata Party for being behind the arrest and for targeting the I-N-D-I-A Alliance. On ED arrests Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the Excise policy case, Saravanan Annadurai, DMK spokesperson says, "It is on expected lines... He (PM Modi) wants to divert the attention of the common man from the mega scam, the biggest loot, the extortion racket that the BJP has run (Electoral Bond). That is why this arrest has been made. The High Court questioned the ED that what is the evidence that they had got to go behind Arvind Kejriwal. They (ED) sought time in the Court and now come knocking at his doors. We hope the Supreme Court will intervene to ensure that the democracy prevails,” said Saravanan Annadurai “This is vindictive politics ahead of Lok Sabha elections. BJP knows it is losing from every state that is why it is targeting non-BJP parties and leaders and pressuring them by using Central Agencies," said Kunal Ghosh. The ED arrived at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on March 21.

She further said, “We have filed an application in the Supreme Court against the illegal arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. It will be mentioned in the Supreme Court tomorrow morning. We hope that the Supreme Court will protect democracy.” Moreover, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said that a protest at the BJP headquarters will be held on March 22 against the arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister.

Delhi CM & AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the Excise Policy case on March 21. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested hours after the ED team visited Delhi CM’s residence after Delhi HC refused interim protection to him. While speaking to the media, AAP leader Atishi trained guns at PM Modi, BJP and informed that “ED has arrested Arvind Kejriwal”. Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal's legal team has filed a petition in Supreme Court challenging HC order which denied him interim relief. As ED team reached Kejriwal’s residence, ‘high voltage drama’ erupted with AAP leaders protesting against the Centre. Meanwhile, heavy security force along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were deployed outside CM Kejriwal’s residence. After the Delhi CM & AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the Excise Policy case on March 21, India Bloc leaders came out in support of Kejriwal and condemned the act of ED. Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal's legal team has filed a petition in Supreme Court challenging HC order which denied him interim relief.

Delhi Excise Policy Case: ED summons Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

The ED summoned Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in connection with Delhi excise policy case. AAP supremo Kejriwal will be questioned on Nov 02 in connection with an ongoing probe into the case. Kejriwal was earlier summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in April this year. However, Kejriwal was not named as an accused in the FIR filed by the CBI on August 17, 2022. ED summons was issued to Kejriwal hours after Supreme Court dismissed bail plea of  AAP leader Manish Sisodia in the case. The Court’s order was delivered by a bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatti.

MP Sanjay Singh arrested in Delhi Liquor Case, AAP supporters revolt

Amid lusty sloganeering from party supporters, ED on Oct 04 arrested AAP’s Sanjay Singh from his Delhi residence. The Rajya Sabha MP was arrested in connection with with the now-scrapped liquor policy case. His was the second high-profile arrest in the case after former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The arrest came hours after the ED conducted raids at the residence of the AAP Rajya Sabha MP in connection with the case. As word of his arrest got out, various AAP workers gathered outside Singh's residence, condemning his arrest. Meanwhile, Sanjay Singh’s family alleged that ED officials couldn’t find anything and misbehaved with them. Before his arrest the AAP MP said, “Cowardly and dictatorial Prime Minister wants to win elections this way.”The AAP leader alleged further that the officers misused their position to tarnish his public image and demanded prosecution against them. He added that he had already sent a legal notice to the officers concerned to issue an open and public apology. As per to ED, name of the AAP leader appears four times in the ED chargesheet, one of which was typed inadvertently. At one place Sanjay Singh's name was mentioned instead of Rahul Singh, who was the then excise commissioner.
