26-year-old woman Salma Shaikh delivered a baby girl on platform 3 of Mumbai's Dadar Station last night. The woman delivered the baby when the train, which was enroute to CST from Kalyan, was stationed on platform number 3 of the Dadar Station. Soon after the delivery, the mother and newborn were shifted to the nearby KEM hospital for further treatment. Their condition is now stable

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray led a protest march in south Mumbai on Thursday against the recent railway station stampede and bullet train project at metro cinema area. The MNS was demanding better railway infrastructure for commuters following the stampede that killed nearly 23 people on September 29. The Mumbai Police had denied permission for the MNS protest rally, but still the march was carried out. Thousands of MNS workers holding flags took to streets and raised slogans against the government.

Lieutenant Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit was released from jail on Wednesday, after nine years in the Malegaon blast case. Purohit was released from the Tajola jail in Maharashtra after the Supreme Court on Monday granted him bail. Purohit had moved India's top court after he was arrested in 2008. He told the Supreme Court that he was acting as an army mole and was not involved in terrorist activity. In Malegaon blast, six people were killed and scores were injured.

Taloja Industrial area near Mumbai is infamous for its high pollution level and it has become more evident over the past few months. In a very strange and alarming incident, dogs in the Industrial area are turning blue which is due to the dye leaked from the dye making plants in that area. This leakage flows in a nullah nearby from where these dogs are contaminated. Also, when dogs trespass into the dye making units, they get coloured from the waste lying there. A local activist Arati Chauhan lodged a complaint to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) in this regard requesting the board to take action. A huge cache of explosives was recovered from Mumbai and three people were arrested in connection to it on Monday. Acting on a tip off, Mumbai's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Thane Police jointly raided Mumbra region of the city and seized nine detonators and 10 kilograms of ammonium nitrate.
