Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL): Watch exclusive night view of Atal Setu

Constructed at the cost of Rs.18,000 crores, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu was inaugurated today by PM Modi. An infrastructure marvel never seen before in India - now a reality for Mumbaikars. This 21.8-kilometre-long Mumbai Trans Harbour Link bridge would help cover the distance between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes which otherwise takes 2 hours. More than 5000 workers and engineers worked every day for the completion of the project since work began in mid-2018. Many of the workers and engineers had to take an hour-long boat ride every day to their work site. MTHL inauguration will take place today in Mumbai by PM Narendra Modi. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rebuked Congress MP KC Venugopal over President and Vice President's absence at the inauguration of the New Parliament remarks. While speaking on the Women’s Reservation Bill Congress MP KC Venugopal stated, “it is an insult that the President and Vice President were not present at the inauguration of the New Parliament.” Reacting to it, the Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman said, “We cannot trade on deficiencies. We can't trade the ignorance of others. Let me make it very clear, Vice President and President have been accorded the highest respect in the country. There has been no constitutional transgression. The position of the President and the Vice President or the chairman has to be kept at their level as expected and that was done. And that is what you have seen in last three days also. I would appeal to you as a member of the leading opposition party, you must do your homework. Find out. It does not send a good message when you bring in the President also. Read the constitution and you will find the role has been defined categorically... The President will address every session of Parliament, that was the original prescription in the Constitution. And the (first) amendment was, once a year. President has to act in accord with the Constitution...”

After Indian Chess Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa created history by advancing to the final of the FIDE World Cup, his coach RB Ramesh expressed his immense pride in Praggnanandhaa’s exceptional performance in the global tournament and said that he is optimistic about Praggnanandhaa’s chances in view of the openings strategies discussed.Praggnanandhaa defeated World No. 3 Fabiano Caruana to reach the final of the FIDE World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan on August 21. The Indian prodigy managed to beat the American player 3.5-2.5 after tiebreaks.“I am extremely proud that he has been doing phenomenally well in this World Cup and he qualified for the World Cup final. And what I hear is he is the youngest to do so. And also he is the only Indian to qualify for the final,” coach Ramesh told ANI. Praggnanandhaa’s coach is optimistic that the Indian Grandmaster will win the title. “I am very optimistic about Prags chances. He needs to get a good night’s sleep today, definitely, that will be very crucial. He is already feeling really good about himself, he knows that he is playing well, so there is not much to give advice to him. But, we just briefly discuss his opening strategies,” RB Ramesh said.Praggnanandhaa will face World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen for the title clash on Tuesday.

When asked what keeps him awake at night in terms of the G20 presidency, the External Affairs Minister gave a funny response, however, he listed out the things that worry him in society. “When we see societies today where the basic development has slowed down in the last few years. When we see the ravages of COVID. It will take years for us to come out of it fully. These multiple shocks have come one on top of another. The way the social fabric of society is under stress. It worries me. Because it will throw up challenges in politics and systematically. It is something we need to pay attention to,” said EAM Dr S Jaishankar.
