US Carney warship shoots down Houthi Rebels’ drones in Red Sea

The US warship shot down three Houthi rebels’ drones headed in the ship’s direction in the Red Sea on Dec 04. As per US Central Command, Arleigh-Burke Class destroyer USS CARNEY responded to distress calls from the ships, provided assistance. The attacks marked an escalation in a series of maritime attacks in the Mideast linked to the Israel-Hamas war. For the first time in the conflict, multiple vessels found themselves in the crosshairs of a single Houthi’s assault. US Central Command condemned the attack and called it a “direct threat to international commerce, maritime security”. While, the US believed that these attacks launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea from Yemen, were fully “enabled by Iran”. UNLF Peace Deal: Manipur’s UNLF renounces violence in historic deal

The United National Liberation Front has signed a peace agreement with the Government of India and Manipur Govt. The United National Liberation Front, or UNLF is a separatist insurgent group active in Manipur. The armed group has agreed to renounce violence and join mainstream, marking the end of a six-decade-long armed movement. The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, some members of UNLF. The return of UNLF to the mainstream will encourage other valley-based armed groups to participate in the peace process in due course. Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the UNLF peace deal.

Bihar train derailment takes 4 lives, over 70 injured; restoration work underway

At least 4 persons died, over 70 were injured after 21 coaches of North East Express train derailed. The mishap took place near Raghunathpur Station in Buxar district of Bihar on October 11. However, the restoration work is still underway at the Raghunathpur Station in Bihar’s Buxar. Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey is present at ground zero. Notably, the train was going from Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi to Kamakhya in Assam. Locals and district administrations rescued the passengers, and the critically injured were referred to AIIMS Patna. A special train was also arranged for the stranded passengers and they will be shifted to special train. The reason behind the incident will be investigated once the rescue operation is over.

Meteorologists and weather experts anticipate not only increased temperatures owing to the monsoon withdrawal but also a gradual decline in air quality during this transition. According to the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city and suburbs will witness intense heat next week. According to IMD’s weekly weather forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to rise up to 32 degrees Celsius from October 9 to 13. After that, there will be some decrease in temperature. The maximum temperatures recorded at the Santacruz and Colaba observatories were 35.9 and 33 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, relative humidity at both weather stations was 71 per cent and 81 per cent, respectively.
