Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra resumed from Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh on February 19. While addressing the public gathering Congress MP Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP over the lack of presence of dalits, adivasis, and backward people in administrative positions across fields. He said, “Tell me how many Dalits, Adivasis, and backward people are there in High Courts? You don't have courage, you all are sleeping. There are 650 High Court Judges. You have 73% of the population...Tell me how many people do you have among the bureaucrats?...”

In reaction to Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar giving the verdict that the Eknath Shinde faction was the real Shiv Sena following the June 2022 split in the party, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on January 10 that the decision given on the Shiv Sena vs Shiv Sena issue is the victory of democracy. He also said that the result is given on merit. While speaking to the reporters, Eknath Shinde said, "It is 'Satyamev Jayate'. The truth has won... This result has been given on merit. Majority is very important in democracy and hence the decision given by the Speaker today is the victory of democracy."

Maratha Reservation: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde holds meeting

Amid the ongoing Maratha reservation protest, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was seen leaving Raj Bhawan after meeting Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais. Later, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis also joined the meeting at Eknath Shinde’s Bungalow. The meeting was in the wake of the multiple violent protests that took place in demand for Maratha reservations. As the Maratha community’s movement flared up, multiple incidents of vehicles being set on fire came across on October 30. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Prakash Solanke’s residence in Maharashtra’s Beed was also set on fire by a group of pro-Maratha reservation protestors. The movement took a violent form due to which, massive damage has been caused to public and private property. Satara district will remain closed tomorrow while a curfew has also been imposed in Beed district.

The Chhattisgarh Assembly on Friday unanimously passed two amendment bills on reservation. The bills are to amend reservation in government jobs and admission in educational institutions in proportion to the population of different categories. The bills are taking the total reservation quota in the state to 76 per cent. CM Bhupesh Baghel tabled the Chhattisgarh Public Service Amendment Bill and Chhattisgarh Educational Institutions Amendment Bill.
