If there is one man who has transformed key sectors like power, railways, and commerce In India, its non other then Union Minister Piyush Goyal. Piyush Goyal is all set to contest the Lok Sabha  elections for the very first time this year. The BJP in it's second list of 72 candidates mentioned Mr Goyal as the party's candidate from Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency. The 59 year old is one of the top ministers in the Narendra Modi government and has been in-charge of crucial ministries in the last 10 years. He has handled portfolios like power, railways and coal among others. And currently he is the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles. Farmers Protest 2024: Union Minister Piyush Goyal proposes fresh MSP deal

Following the fourth round of meetings with the farming leaders in connection with the ongoing farmers protest 2024, the Union Minister Piyush Goyal said on February 19 that a detailed discussion was held with Bhartiya Kisan Mazdoor. He further stated that the outcome of the meeting was very positive. We had a detailed discussion on how to carry forward the work done by PM Modi in the last 10 years, he further added. What is to be seen next is if the farmers will end their protest now. The protesting farmers were demanding implementation of the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, pension for farmers and farm labourers, and withdrawal of police cases besides loan waiver and a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP).

Political row sparks between NCP-BJP after Sharad Pawar's statement on Israel

Hitting out at Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar for his remark on the Israel-Palestine conflict, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that Pawar would send his daughter Supriya Sule to Gaza. Sarma's remarks came days after Sharad Pawar said that former Prime Ministers of India also “stood firmly with Palestine”. Terming Prime Minister Narendra Modi's support for Israel as "unfortunate", the NCP chief said that he neglected the real issue. Pawar said "The entire land is of Palestine and Israel encroached on their land. That place, land and houses, everything was of Palestine and later Israel took over it. Israel is an outsider and the land is originally of Palestine." Pawar's remarks were condemned by the BJP. Earlier today, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said it is "very disturbing" when a senior leader like Sharad Pawar makes such "preposterous statements" NCP Leader Supriya Sule also responded to Himanta Biswa Sarma's statement.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal explains govt's plans to curb soaring onion prices

Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister of India Piyush Goyal met Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde in Delhi on August 22.  The meeting was to discuss a strategy to control the soaring prices of onion. Union Minister Piyush Goyal informed that NCCF and NAFED will be soon purchasing onions from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and other areas where onions are grown so that farmers get the right price for their produce. “We all know that in the past few days, as per the orders by Government of India, NAFED and NCCF purchased 3 lakh tons of onion from Nashik, Lasalgaon, Ahmednagar and this region. 40 per cent export tax has been imposed on onion so that there is an adequate quantity of onion available in India. From 11 am today, NCCF and NAFED will begin the purchase of 2 lakh more tons of onion from Nashik, Pimpalgaon, Lasalgaon, Ahmednagar and the entire region. More purchases will be made in the future if needed. NCCF and NAFED will also purchase onions from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and other areas where onions are grown so that farmers get the right price for their produce. The price for purchase today has been decided to be Rs 2410 per quintal. No farmer needs to worry,” said Piyush Goyal.

Further crediting the country’s growth to its 3Ds- democracy, demography of young population and demand, the Union Minister said that India will emerge as a developed nation in the next 25 years. “It is an important day for Indian international image. This day will be remembered for long for India’s development pace under PM Modi. Today, India is entirely different than what it was in 2013. India has rapidly moved forward with its 3Ds; democracy, demography of young population and demand. The leader must apologise to the nation, Parliament and the presiding officers of both Houses,” he said in a presser in Mumbai.
