15 days have passed but the workers still remain trapped in the Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel. To take stock of the ongoing rescue efforts to save 41 trapped workers, Principal Secretary to the PM - Pramod Kumar Mishra, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Uttarakhand Chief Secy SS Sandhu arrived at Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel. Dr. Pramod Kumar Mishra communicated with the workers trapped and also with the families of the trapped workers. Dr. Mishra also took a report of the food items being sent to the workers. International Tunneling Expert, Arnold Dix gave an update about the ongoing rescue efforts at the Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse site.

Former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Nripendra Misra on May 22 said that the PM was not keen on the introduction of the Rs 2,000 notes but went along with the advice of his team. “PM Modi was not at all in favour of Rs 2000 notes. But, as demonetisation was to be done in a limited time, he gave reluctant permission for it. PM never considered Rs 2000 note as a note of the poor, he knew Rs 2000 has hoarding value instead of the transactional value,” said Nripendra Misra.

The Vice-Principal of Don Bosco School, in Bandel, West Bengal, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a student of Class 4 so badly that he needed nine stitches on his head. The student, Ishan Das, had taken a can of foam spray to school. He was holding the can in his hand when the Vice-Principal Subir Mondal seized it and allegedly hit the boy's head with the can.
