‘Dangal’ fame Sanya Malhotra looked drop-dead gorgeous as she walked the ramp for Sonali Pamnani’s ‘The Meraki Project’ on the first day of the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017. The actress sashayed down the ramp in a grey shirt with some pretty doodle patchwork. She paired the cool shirt with a black flowy full-length skirt with flower appliques. The showstopper of the show Sanya swirled on to the stage with her smile that lit up the whole ramp. The collection, inspired by artwork, aimed to modernise Indian Hand-woven textiles into contemporary, chic and fun clothing for the woman. The five-day event, which is being held in Mumbai, showcased the creations of some of India’s biggest designers.

Brahmeshwar Mukhiya, who headed the banned, upper caste militia Ranvir Sena in Bihar, was shot dead on Friday morning by unidentified people in Arrah in the state's Bhojpur district. A violent backlash that began in this part of north-western Bihar has now spread to other parts of the state. Mr Mukhiya's angry supporters have vandalized public property, burnt buses and set offices on fire, smashed windows of the Patna Rajdhani Express and they even heckled and pushed Bihar's police chief DGP Abhay Anand, when he visited Arrah, which is now under curfew. As survivors of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami grappled with the enormity of the devastation, more footage emerged on Sunday showing the moment the tsunami struck Japan's northeast coast. Residents of the port town of Kamaishi in Iwate prefecture watched in horror as the first huge tsunami waves hit, sweeping away cars and buildings. One group managed to scramble to safety on higher ground, where they watched as the water surged towards them. Others were stranded on the roof of a multi-storey building as the water level rose rapidly below

Dramatic new pictures emerged on Sunday of a tsunami wave smashing into the Japanese town of Miyako, in Iwate Prefecture, on Friday. The wave crashes over the seawall carrying away everything in its path, including boats that topple over the wall and are smashed into a bridge. Cars were simply washed away, crashing into each other and buildings. More than 1,400 people were killed by the quake and resulting tsunamis and hundreds more were still missing, according to officials, but police in one of the worst-hit areas estimated the number of dead there alone could eventually top 10,000.
