    Padma Shri awardee and Kabaddi coach Sunil Dabas registered a case alleging that a man tried to run her over with a car, after she spotted him from breaking her locality's gate. The incident took place after she objected to demolition of the entry gate of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, a residential colony. Sunil Dabas said that she saw a group of men standing at the gate with a dumper, trying to break it. So she confronted them. But instead of answering to her queries, they tried to run her over.

    India clinched its first ever gold medal in the 'Wushu World Championships' in Russia's Kazan, courtesy Pooja Kadian. Wushu player Pooja Kadian bagged the medal in 75-kilograms category at 14th edition of the championship. Kadian finished at the top of the podium after beating Russia's Evgeniya Stepanova in the finals. Pooja had entered the finals after beating Egypt's Heba Abdelkader 2-0 in her last-four match. Speed climbing is one of five sports that have been included in the programme for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics along with baseball/softball, bowling, karate, surfing and skateboarding. Italy's Ludivico Fossali won the men's event after Russian Stanislav Kokorin committed a false start. But in the small final it was a much closer affair with Italian Leonardo Gontero winning in a time of 6.25 seconds, beating Russian Aleksandr Shikov by three hundredths of a second. In the women's event, France's Anouk Jaubert was triumphant in the final, beating Mariia Krasavina of Russia.

  • 24-year-old sport bike rider killed in high-speed crash near Mandi House

    A 24-year-old boy died in a bike accident near Mandi House on late Tuesday night. The boy, identified as Himanshu Bansal, was on his way from Connaught Place when he lost control of his high-speeding bike and rammed into a wall near Mandi house. When police reached the spot, they reportedly found damaged Benelli TNT 600i motorbike, pieces of glass and blood splattered on the road. Giving details, DCP of Delhi Police, B.K. Singh said: “An elderly person was crossing the road and Himanshu lost control. His bike hit the wall of Lady Irwin College and he was critically injured. Passersby sent him to nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. The entire video of the accident was captured in the helmet camera of one of his friends who was riding behind him
