 | | | THE elegant Indian look is a hot favourite with many Indian corporate women. Wearing salwars and saris means wearing a bindi for the majority. And we sincerely hope that Komolika or Ramola are not your role models while sticking on a bindi. Wearing bindis on your work ensemble needs some imagination, thought, and may we add, sobriety. Some Bollywood babes really do it in style. Here’s how you can subtly add a bit of dash to your formal Indian office wear : » Stick-on magic: Pep up a simple mass produced stick-on bindi with a dash of kumkum or another finely shaped stick-on bindi in a contrast colour. A thin bindi can be stuck below the bigger long/round bindi. (Think Neena Gupta’s Saans look) » Soft touch: If you tie up your hair, soften the stern/severe look with a small white bindi. White lends the much needed softness that you need during office hours. » Ban bling: Bling is out. Reserve your maang tikas, designer bindis for shaadis and mehendis. » Colour play: Experiment with kumkum or loose coloured powder in shades of yellow, green, blue and red. Use your finger tip to make the desired shape/size. » Sheen care: In humid weather, apply a coat of loose translucent powder /compact over your base make up or sunscreen for a long lasting bindi. » Portable kit: Your eyeliner can double up beautifully as your portable bindi kit. Black, grey, blue are all neutral colours which go with almost any kurta/sari. However if you have an outdoor job, a hand painted bindi may not be for you, as it might bleed. So select your bindi judiciously to make it a part of your power dressing ! | Shobaa De | Deepika | Hema Malini | Aishwarya | | | |
