Mumbai:

Govinda
The actor-politician has been put on a strict diet of fresh air by his wife

I am
Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. I eat everything.

I begin my day with
A special tea and heavy breakfast which consist of fruits and dry fruits.

MY breakfast IS
Normally brown bread toast with butter and eggs.

 My lunch and dinner  IS
I eat nothing.

 In the evenings
At 6 pm, I eat ayurvedic food which is cooked by me. Even during an outdoor shooting, I cook my own food.

In sweets I like
Very rarely, may be once  a year, I have ras malai. But now my wife has disallowed me that too (laughs).

My fitness regime
Gym, yoga, exercises I do everything. I spend two hours working out. But I go slow, I don't do heavy  exercises. I have planned to lose 40 kilos in four years. I want to be on the right side of 70 kilos. I was around 112 kgs. I have already lost 25-26 kilos. I am sure I will achieve my aim.

My Sunday lunch
I eat whatever is possible. Sab boss ka order hai.

 My favourite cooks
My wife Sunita, she makes very good rajma, kali dal, but main better hoon. Main khansama hi hoon, galti se actor aur politician ban gaya, basically main khansama hi hoon (laughs).

I can cook
Everything veg, non-veg. I can make dal, chawal, sabzi, roti, different kinds of sandwiches. I only cook on the sets. I like to cook for my unit. Jo bhi hai aaj kal shoot pe hi cook karta hoon, normal, dal, chawal alag, alag tarah ke.

My childhood  memory of food

My mom made excellent moong ki dal, khichdi, bhindi ki sabzi. I remember I was never fond of ice creams, chocolates. Bachpan main toh main bahut jyaada fit tha. I could eat 40 rotis in the whole day and would have three-four litres of milk. From the ages of 12-21, I could drink minimum two litres of milk and continue to have 40 rotis in the whole day, I could eat it with any dal. Hero banne ke baad meri diet, sab jo bhi hai,
sab angrez ho gayi, English ho gaya hoon main pura.

My idea of a romantic  meal
Aaj kal meri wife mujhe sirf Greek food allow karti hai, nothing more, nothing less as she wants me to have a good body, unhe shaunk chara hai ke bache abhi bade ho gaye hain, she wants me to become younger. I would like to take Sunita to tour all over the world with our children.

My best dining  friends are
My family and sometimes white wine and my ayurvedic book (laughs).

My fridge always has
Fridge ki shakal dekhne ko kahan milti hai aaj kal? I don't get a chance, subhe nikalta hoon raat ko ghar late aata hoon.

I feel guilty after  eating
Aaj kal khata hi kahan hoon. (laughs). Main ek quaidi hoon, main apni hero ki panah main qaid hoon. I am a qaid hero in the arms of my wife.

I can't resist buying
I don't buy anything, I just see the market and come back.

My favourite fruits
I like all fruits.

I resemble
A chilli. I am as hot as one (laughs).

I carry
No foodstuffs with me.

FAVOURITE RESTAURANT

Ming Yang
Taj Lands End
Band Stand, Bandra (West),
6668 1234

Govinda says, "I am working day and night. Meri biwi ki dadagiri hai in restaurants too. I go wherever she takes me. But if you insist I would say my favourites are Just Around the Corner for its salads and Ming Yang, the Chinese restaurant at Taj Lands End for great food, good service and great ambience."
Ming Yang that means the rising sun, serves authentic Sichuan cuisine. Dig into delicacies from regions like Shanghai and Beijing.

Try their Shark Fin Soup, Singapore Style Crab, Prawns Pepper Salt, Ming Yang Chicken, Lobster in Butter Garlic Sauce. After which, if you have space for dessert, move on to their Fried Ice Cream and Date Pancakes.

Ming Yang's celebrity guests include Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Salman Khan.

Favourite recipe: Steamed Bhindi Sabzi

Ingredients
150 gms fresh bhindi (lady fingers)
4 cloves garlic (crushed)
Less than ½ a tsp pepper powder
1 tsp oil
A pinch of salt

Method
Wash the bhindi and pat dry completely. Chop the bhindi into small  round pieces. Lightly heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add the bhindi and salt. Mix gently. Cook on a low flame. Toss at regular intervals. When the bhindis are almost done sprinkle pepper powder and toss it once again. Remove from gas once the bhindis are done. Serve hot with rotis.
