No Kartik for Murali

FUNNY things are happening with Murali Kartik. First, he was selected to replace Ramesh Powar when the left-armer was busy giving expert opinions on the channel that is broadcasting the series.

Then, once he joined the team, he was told that his India shirt cannot not have Kartik at the back as Dinesh Karthik already has it. So, he now has Murali on the back of his shirt, which is actually his father’s name!

In poor taste

IT is ironic that the people of a country, who are racially abused in many countries around the world, end up doing the same in India.

After India were bowled out for a paltry 149 yesterday, a section of the crowd at the Reliance Stadium, which probably could not handle India’s submission all that well, made monkey noises at Andrew Symonds, the only black member of the Australian side.

Australia spokesman Philip Pope confirmed that Symonds did hear some noises but also said Cricket Australia will not be calling for any action. Now, let’s just hope that such incidents are not repeated at other venues.

Bigger car for Yuvi

IT might be surprising, but Yuvraj Singh has actually refused the Porsche that BCCI vice-president Lalit Modi was to gift him for his performance in World Twenty20. But Yuvraj actually has a valid reason for it.

The left-hand bat already has a BMW convertible and instead of getting another two-seater, he wants  a bigger car. A request for a BMW has already been made and he could well be driving his second one very shortly.

Blame it on Sree

During a match, many journalists have a very funny way of looking at how the game is progressing. Immediately after Australia went past India’s target, one such scribe asked a few to name the one person who was responsible for India’s defeat. The journo also gave a clue that he was not part of the playing XI of either teams.

The most common answer was the curator but according to the journalist, the man is S Sreesanth.

According to him, the Kerala speedster’s antics and taunts has charged up the Aussies who now want to thrash the Indians at every given opportunity. Quite a unique view of India’s humiliation!
