JOHANNESBURG: ... forecast a win for Deccan Chargers in the dead of night. And after the semis, that's  Gilchrist's second correct prediction

Not just a brilliant skipper, Adam Gilchrist, has now emerged as an inspired soothsayer. His cricketing predictions for Deccan Chargers, has been near-perfect, second time in a row.

Gilchrist, who bagged the honours in IPL 2 after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final here last night, had predicted that his left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha would strike vital blows on the opposition in the day-night final.

"I could not sleep last night. I got up at 2.30 am [SA time]. I was excited and my mind was racing. At 3.16 am, I said [to myself] Pragyan is going to be the man-of-the-match. And with three wickets, he came pretty close," Gilchrist revealed after his team's six-run win over Anil Kumble's men. Kumble bagged the man-of-the-match award for his four-wicket haul.

Semis forecast

On Friday, after Deccan got the better of the Delhi Daredevils in the semis, Gilchrist spoke about how he scribbled on a piece of paper, 'six-wicket win today', precisely the margin of his victory.
