Around 2000 policemen and officials from the anti-sabotage quick response team will look after the security during the forthcoming Indian Premier League that starts on March 12.
This was revealed after a meeting between IPL officials and Navi Mumbai police commissioner Gulabrao Pol at the DY Patil stadium on Wednesday.
The local police, along with traffic personnel from city and highway police will be deployed to man traffic movement.
Police has requested spectators not to carry mobile phones, water bottles, fruits or any other eatables. Woman spectators have been advised against carrying handbags to the stadium.
Additional three companies of State Reserve Force and armed commandos will also be deployed during the event. Pol further added that three different layers of security has been made which includes the outer, middle and inner security that will ensure no untoward incident take place. Private security guards will also be deployed in large numbers.
A chance of bogus ticketing is ruled out this time as all tickets are bar coded and services of international agencies are hired to prevent any forgery. Also for the first time the entire match will be transmitted across 125 countries.
The inaugural ceremony will start at 6 pm on March 12. The match would start at 8 pm and go on till midnight.
Special permission has been taken to ensure the use of public address system after the deadline of 10 pm for crowd management. DY Patil Stadium will host four matches.
Police have requested the spectators not to commute in private vehicles or two wheelers and instead make use of public transport. The IPL committee has written a letter to the railways requesting them to increase the frequency of trains in Harbour line and if possible also put additional coaches.
Parking arrangement for over 1000 vehicles have been made by the IPL committee. |
