Australia defeated New Zealand by six wickets to win the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy in the fourth ODI played at Auckland today.
Ricky Ponting (50) and Cameron White (50 not out) led their team to a six-wicket win that secured the series 3-1.
The visitors chased the revised Duckworth-Lewis victory target of 200 from 34 overs, after rains delayed the match for a quite a long period.
White was judged the man of the match for his unbeaten 50 and steady partnerships with Ponting, AC Voges (34) and Hussey (28 not out).
Earlier in the day the Kiwis were bowled out for 238 after captain Brendon Mccullum (63) gave them a good start. However NZ lost wickets at regular intervals to give Aussies a sub-standard score to chase.
Among the Australian bowlers Nathan Hauritz was the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets, while James Hopes, Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson bagged two wickets each.
The fifth and the final ODI would be played between the two teams on March 13 in Wellington
