Watching a large number of athletes participating in the second edition of Vasai-Virar marathon made brand ambassador and London Olympics silver medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar nostalgic. He recalled the past when he competed in a mini marathon as a 12-year-old, before he seriously took up wrestling.

“I seriously feel that one needs some determination to compete in a marathon, forget winning it. And it surely is not my cup of tea. When I see the athletes in such large numbers participate in the marathon, I recollect my old days. I must have been in fifth standard when I ran a mini marathon,” Sushil told MiD DAY.

Talking about the motto of “Save the Girl Child and Maintain Nature’s Balance” he said, “I am enlightened that such a motto has been chosen. The issue needs wider awareness,” the grappler said.
