Pietersen visits Dalai Lama's residence

England batsman Kevin Pietersen visited the Dalai Lama's residence here yesterday but did not get to meet the Tibetan spiritual leader.

“His Holiness himself... Such an interesting morning visiting his residence!” tweeted Pietersen, attaching a photograph of him besides a framed photo of the Tibetan spiritual leader.

He also posted a photograph of the Dharamsala airport. India and England play the first ever One-Day International here on Sunday at the HPCA Stadium, 1,500 metres above sea level at the foothills of the Himalayas.

The Dalai Lama moved to this hill town shortly after fleeing his homeland in 1959. Meanwhile, Dalai Lama will give the first international cricket match here, an aide said yesterday.

“His Holiness returned to Dharamsala this morning after two months. He will not be present for the match," Tenzin Taklha, joint secretary at the Dalai Lama’s office said.
