In a day from now, we will be in the month of the ICC Cricket
World Cup. And while Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his mates
savour a short break after their South African sojourn, there
won’t be any drop in the flow of cricket analysis and arguments.
India must be counted as a contender considering how well
they have played in the recent past. The ability of Dhoni’s team
to dust themselves off from adversity and rejoin battle is one
great channel of hope when it comes to striving for world
cricket’s greatest prize.
But there are other teams which are capable of being a threat
to India’s ambition. England have enhanced their reputation
with a second Ashes win in two years, but we shouldn’t forget
they have a lot of ammo in their one-day arsenal too. Pakistan
can never be ruled out and Australia seem to have the nerve
needed to win at big tournaments. Former champions Sri Lanka
have the muscle to fancy another triumph and there are times
when South Africa doesn’t choke. In a way, this World Cup is
anyone’s game. What better news for 50-over cricket that is
always being threatened by the Twenty20 fare!
February 19 to April 2 is set to be an extraordinarily exciting
phase of the year for cricket lovers. It will. Period.
We hope you enjoy your Cuppa just as much as we did putting it
together for you.
