| Just some tunes: Musician Louis Banks at the launch of Bangalore’s exclusive piano showroom |
Furtados has formerly sold pianos to South India from Mumbai. “Since we are in a state of expansion, we thought this would be the right time to open a store in Bangalore,” says Philip Rodrigues, managing director, Furtados. The music culture in Bangalore, Mysore, Hubli and Mangalore also played an important role in this decision. “There is good, untapped market for us in Bangalore,” he believes.
Furtados was established in 1865 and over the years it has built a nationwide reputation in the import and distribution of sheet music, musical instruments and accessories. Tucked away from the busy streets, in the lanes of Gandhinagar, this charming and sophisticated showroom is a place one would definitely want to check out.
What’s there
The Piano showroom boasts of brands like Steinway & Sons, Boston, Essex, Yamaha, B Steiner, Ritmuller, Pearl River and Viscount. The store offers two types of pianos: digital ones with prices between Rs 49,000 and Rs 3 lakhs and acoustic ones with prices from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakhs. Customers seem to have found the store well, even though it has been open for only a couple of days.
“We have had a great response from the public and we have already sold some pianos,” Rodrigues boasts. In Furtados, customers are able to try out the instruments, not just look at them.
To celebrate the launch of the piano showroom, Furtados has offered a 10 per cent discount on the price of all pianos till March 15.
