Inhabitants of the metros lead stressful lives, as a result they have no time to appreciate the fine arts like music and dance. Through her recent works, artist Mousumi Mukerjee tries to revive this interest in these lost art forms. Her painting capture the melody of a shepherd, well-rehearsed dance moves of a group of village girls and the trance-like devotional music of a sufi saint.

Artist Niki Bhaskar makes an attempt to portray auras of different personalities in her latest exhibit. Check out her collection of acrylics on canvas, to find out what distinguishes the aura of a saint from that of a dictator, or an aura of a new born child from a cell. Her paintings are also influenced by Rajasthani art, music and culture, aptly reflected in the vibrant colours that make her paintings come alive.

Currently pursuing the graduate diploma in painting from College of Fine Arts at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, young artist Yadnyesh Shirwadkar has already found an inspiration for his works music. His initial works also spoke of music, and in this collection, he uses musical instruments and renowned musical artists (like tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain) to express his love for the lyrical. The collection is dominated by acrylics on canvas, and the multi-layered water colour gives the paintings a transparent effect. Every colour is shown independently, and they come together to give an
altogether different texture.
