Because good stationery is like a good book you just can't get enough. Staples, a one-stop shop for stationery has opened its doors at High Street Phoenix.
On the shelves: Kids need to visit the store before school starts next month, to stock up on notebooks, lunch boxes, pencil cases embossed with cartoon characters, glue sticks, ball and gel pens. If she/he is the creative sort, pick up a Hobby Idea kit (Rs 99). The Scrapbooking kit or the Make Your Own Greeting Card kit looked engrossing. Crayons, paint brushes, sketch pens and canvas boards are all available.
The store also stocks backpacks (in the range of Rs 1,200 to Rs 4,000) and chic laptop bags (around Rs 3,000). For the tech savvy, there are branded routers, modems, memory cards, webcams, headsets, arc mouses, calculators and batteries, power accessories, inks and toners for printers, hard drives and cleaning solutions for various electronic items.
We loved: The Crayola gel paints (Rs 271) that are easy-to-use and a good idea for kids who end up making a mess when they paint. The gel paint doesn't drip because it clings to the brush.
We suggest: They widen their range of products within a particular category. And, yes, the school bags were missing.
