Singh is king of pizzas

By: Kasmin Fernandes

Recently reopened Cafe Appetite introduces American pizzas, Indo Italian pastas and Indian Chinese khaana, with a desi twist

This little eatery has reopened after four years in the same place it used to stand on.

Perhaps soft-spoken owner Rajneet Singh was inspired by its previous tenant Pizza Hut to give it a pizza house avatar.

Pizzas and pastas feature prominently where once only fail-safe conti-and-Chinese were dominated.

Better known as Chef Raji, the gold medallist from New Zealand has worked as Sous-Chef with celebrity chef Maxi Milliano, and in the kitchens of The Leela and Oberoi hotels.

Florid floral paintings adorn the canary yellow walls.

Classic Pizza, Kalmi Kabab

The tables are wide, spacious and few in number. We vouch for the Tomato and Basil Soup (Rs 50) a delicious broth that could be split in two and the well-spiced Kalmi Kabab (Rs 120).

The joint serves 10-inch fresh dough pizzas ask for off-the-menu Classic Pizza a veggie pizza that is easy on the palate.

With prices of most dishes not going beyond Rs 200, this is a cheaper option to the fare on your way to the airport.

At: 186 Bhagat Singh Colony, next to Gurudwara, New Andheri Link Road, Andheri (E).
