Catch Fiddler on the Roof at Nariman Point

By: Aditi Sharma

In addition to popular numbers from musical classics like Fiddler on the Roof, choir Living Voices will present a few songs that pay homage to terror victims, and will hopefully change a terrorist's heart

Before Gwen Stefani unleashed her song, Rich Girl on music lovers, distracting us with her gyrations, the one image associated with the tune was of Chaim Topol dreaming of being nothing but a bum if he were a rich man.

This evening, it's time to relive moments from the 1971 film as the Living Voices choir performs a medley of songs from the musical classic. The playlist also includes popular tracks like Irving Berlin's Cheek to Cheek and Henry Mancini's Moon River.

This evening's concert aims to crash the notion that choirs are meant for a serious audience. "We had performed a rather serious concert with the Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI) in February this year.

That's when we decided that we should give light music a try and organise an entire evening of songs that the audience could connect with," says Blossom Mendonca, director of Living Voices.

The concert is based around the theme of love. "The playlist mainly consists of popular songs from Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, etc.

The evening is an ode to love with songs like Vive L'Amour, Ma (he's makin' eyes at me), Cheek to Cheek and Moon River," says Blossom.

Even though the concert is expected to be "non serious", it has a few numbers dedicated to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

The evening will begin with prayer-song Pie Jesus from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem, in homage to terror victims.

"Bring him Home from Les Miserables is a song for the terrorists, who," Blossom says, "need to be saved from going down the wrong path."
