Nothing royal about it

Skip the kebabs and sample the aromatic biryani at The Kebab and Biryani fest at Ramada

Ramada is hosting a Kebab and Biryani fest, what they call the true essence of Mughlai cuisine at their Tiger Trail restaurant, a joint for north-Indian cuisine. But when we sampled it, the fare didn't seem too tempting to our palates.

The a-la-carte menu is designed with everything in place a range of their specials include Vility Subz Biryani, Kacche Gosht ki Biryani, Dakshini Subz Biryani, Chingri Biryani, Murg Yakhni Biryani, Chettinad Biryani, Gosht Moti Biryani and delicious kebabs like the Patili kebabs, Kanti Kebab Masala, Tarana Kebab, Veg Kandhari Kebab, Tangidi Lajawab kebabs and Chicken Malmali kebab.

We tasted the mutton kebab, which was slightly on the dry side; the Chicken Malmali Kebab and the fish Kebab though was piquant. If biryanis is what you dig, then a must-try would be the Kacche Gosht ki Biryani and the Nawabi moti Dum Biryani, which is spicy with tender chunks of gosht, cooked in an Awadhi style.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to win over your girl-friend's fancy by giving her a taste of how the Mughals dined  with red carpets, tables decorated with rose petals, different-flavoured hookahs and soothing ghazals in the background.

Also, enjoy a complementary pint beer with every order of Kebab or Biryani.

At: Kebab & Biryani Food Festival, Tiger Trail, Ramada, Ramada, 11, Park Road.

On till: November 1, between 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm

Wallet factor: A-la-carte meal for two, Rs 1,000.
