Shop for bengali goodies At the Kalyaninagar Sarbajanin Durgotsav, the idol is placed inside the hall in Rohi Villa Palace and is decorated with white thermocol paper, in a typical Dhaker Saaj. The floors are decorated with traditional alpana designs and there are ten stalls offering Bengali delicacies and Mughlai food as well as Bengali DVDs and CDs. Oldest Durga Puja in city The Greater Pune Sarbajanin Durgotsav organised by the Bangiya Sanskriti Samsad is one of Pune's oldest Durga Puja celebrations and has completed 70 years. This year, the idol resembles the Panchala Thakur of Bonedi Bari, one of Bengal's oldest traditional Pujas and the mandap resembles a rural temple. There are 18 stalls devoted to authentic food, traditional ccessories such as Shakha-Sindoor and ethnic Bengali sarees. Taking the swine flu into account, there will be proper fumigation and attendants serving food will wear proper gloves and masks. At: Congress Bhavan, 55, Bhosale Nagar. A puja dedicated to communal harmony The Kalibari Durga Puja is the only Durga Puja in the city that is held in temple premises. The highlight of this year's Puja is the inauguration of the festival by two of the oldest security guards of the Mandir; one of them is a Christian and the other a Muslim.
