Bloting Brooklyn with tabla

By: Navdeep Kaur Marwah

The Delhi-based band will be performing with international and desi artistes at an evening of music, new media and films

Experiments excite, and when it's music, new media and films playing reactants, the resultant compound is experience-worthy. So, attending Super Artsy Friday -- a three hour evening session at the Mocha Arthouse  -- won't be a regret.

The first 60 minutes will see Tabla maestro Somnath Ghosh and sitar exponent Amitabh in a jugalbandi, accompanied by BLOT on live visuals.
"The collaboration of live visuals and Indian music is an example of a unique artistic innovation that aims change  people's outlook towards classical music," explains Avinash Kumar, curator, Arthouse, and one of the performing artistes from BLOT.

This will be followed by a solo performance by guitarist Shyamant Beha, who performs Western classical along  with BLOT on visuals. "I will be playing South American music, especially Argentinian, Brazilian and Spanish. I am really excited about my act," says Shyamant.

And now for the cinema buffs. Brooklyn-based filmmaker Karl Mendonca will be screening original films from independent filmmakers practicing in New York and London. "These movies are aimed to challenge viewers in a different light," signs off Avinash.

Take this one.
