A glamorous role to play

Well known theatre personality Dolly Thakore gets a new look
Dolly says:
I love encouraging young people, which is why I agreed to this. Its not such an unusual experience for me to change my look, since I keep changing my image onstage all the time. For me, this was just a more glamourous role that I was playing, but it looked very nice and a definite change from my ethnic saris, bangles and bindis.

Designer Seema Khan says:
My task was to give Dolly something different, which was a challenge since she is very particular about what she wears and knows what she wants. She is partial to skirts, so I gave her a fitted skirt in a mermaid shape for starters.

She picked out the embroidery she liked, which was basically black on black in an empire line. The black tube top has panels and each panel had a different animal print flowing down over the skirt. This adds up to a classic, subtle but dramatic ensemble.

Make-up artist Sonic Sarwate says:
Since Dolly always wears a huge bindi and dark lip colour, I decided to place the emphasis on her eyes. I started with a flowing natural base, concentrated on the eyes and kept her lips very soft. I used a blue-black kohl for variety and applied a softer colour to her lips, along with a touch of gloss. For her cheeks, I used a light peachy blush so that her skin glowed. Overall, it was a fresh sexy look.

Queenie says:
I thought of Dolly because she has had a standard look for years. Dolly has a side that resists change as well as an adventurous side, which is what I tapped into. I pushed her into removing her nose pin, bangles and bindis and gave her a more fetching look.

I took her to Seema Khan to get her a different ensemble, something she had not bargained for. For make-up, I wanted to accentuate her eyes, give her a light yet glamourous look. I put her in long earrings, since she never wears earrings.

When it came to her hair, she needed a lot of convincing to take the gray out, and we gave her an ash brown colour. When we were done, I thought she looked great and she told me she got a lot of compliments from men, which is always a good thing.
