When Meloni became Italy's leader in October 2022, she arrived at the premier's office wearing a dark suit and clunky black boots, sartorial signifiers of her emergence from the fringes of the country's right-wing politics.

Now, as someone who governs less radically than feared and is on the cusp of becoming Italy's longest-serving postwar leader, Meloni often wears pastel-colored suits with wide-legged trousers that cover her high heels. The effect, say experts in fashion and politics, is a softer look that conveys authority without confrontation.

"She understands how important clothing is in nonverbal communication in politics," said Antonio Mancinelli, who teaches at Rome's Costume and Fashion Academy.

Heading into the final year of her mandate as premier, Meloni faces a growing challenge from a right-wing politician. No matter what she's wearing, the rivalry will highlight how she has become more moderate on some issues.

Meloni is hardly the only world leader to project political identity through wardrobe choices.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dressed in military-style clothing since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The U.K.'s new premier, Andy Burnham, dons jeans and T-shirts as he promotes a policy of bringing the government closer to the working class. And Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum wears dresses and blouses embroidered by Indigenous artisans to honor their textile traditions.

But what the first woman to lead Italy wears carries perhaps even greater weight.

"When it comes to a woman who represents a country that is famous for fashion, and it is also one of the pillars of the economy, the issue becomes much more serious,? said Italian-Haitian fashion designer Stella Jean.

From activist to prime minister

When Meloni came into office as the leader of a political party with post-fascist roots, she had been expected to be antagonistic toward Europe and extreme in her views on foreign policy.

But she has largely defied those expectations. While pursuing conservative, anti-migrant policies domestically, Meloni adopted a pragmatic approach toward the European Union and became one of Ukraine's strongest supporters in its war against Russia. She has also shown a willingness to stand up to criticism from President Donald Trump, prompting European allies to rally around her.

"When she was a party leader of a small right-wing party, she had a small electorate that she had to relate to," said political analyst Riccardo Alcaro of Italy's Institute for International Affairs. "Now she is the leader of a major EU country and has to provide an image of herself as a credible leader of a government who has ideas worth debating."

That change is reflected in her daily attire.

Soon after taking office, Meloni began to wear tailored suits and more muted colors, a look fashion critics described as elegant and one that conveyed seriousness - and approachability - as she appeared more frequently on the global stage. She even lightened her hair.

"Lighter colors suggest a loyalty, tenderness and gentleness. With light colors, you're more welcoming," said Michela Bonafoni, who teaches fashion at Unicollege in Florence.

Meloni's office declined to comment about her wardrobe and who advises her on fashion.

Reeling in Italy's conservative center

Meloni's current fashion choices - and political rhetoric - contrast starkly with those of her younger self.

In 1996, when Meloni was 19, a French television station followed the young activist - decked out almost entirely in black - as she organized members of a right-wing youth movement. During the interview, she defended Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, comments that have shadowed her political career.

Since then, she has sought to distance herself from the extremism that haunts Italy's past.

In 2008, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi tapped Meloni to be his youth minister. Meloni began appearing in more serious apparel in this new role, mostly dark suits with white shirts.

By the time she won Italy's 2022 election, Meloni had already begun broadening her appeal. During the campaign she made a speech in which she passionately described herself as "a woman, a mother, a Christian," words that later became the basis of a viral remix, and helped her to gain support among conservative centrists.

As premier, she has rarely been seen in public wearing all-black suits and boots. While black is widely worn to look stylish, and by mourners, in Italy it also has long been associated with fascism.

These days, Meloni almost always wears trousers, avoids bold patterns and favors pastels and other neutral colors. Even her high heels are typically hidden beneath wide-cut pants.

"She cannot clash visually with the image she wants to project," said Alcaro, who noted that her Brothers of Italy party has grown from 4% of the vote in 2018 to close to 26% in 2022.

A necktie draws notice from Germany's chancellor

Close observers say a key moment in Meloni's visual transformation was in 2024 during the G7 summit in Puglia. After a strong showing by her party in European Parliament elections, she welcomed world leaders to Italy wearing a flowing pastel pink tailored suit and palazzo pants.

By then, she had become one of the most politically secure leaders in Europe and was increasingly comfortable on the international stage.

Her growing confidence was on display again at this year's G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, where she appeared in a beige suit paired with a matching necktie, drawing notice from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Open microphones captured Merz telling her: "You're wearing a tie today."

"Yeah," Meloni replied, "so you can consider me a fighter."

Hybrid racing is growing fast, redefining the way athletes train, compete and think about performance. They regularly shift between running, lifting and dynamic movement throughout training and competition, requiring performance across a wide range of movements and environments.

The demands of hybrid training and racing are constant, and athletes have been forced to choose between the speed and responsiveness of a running shoe and the stability and grip of a traditional training shoe, and this aims to build on that.

Designed to support the full-body demands of hybrid racing, Nike Hybrid is aimed for hybrid athletes to train and compete. The Nike Hybrid Fly is built for race day and the Nike Hybrid RN is designed for everyday training.

The innovations are rooted in athlete insight and powered by Nike’s proprietary performance platforms, such as Nike Air, ZoomX and ReactX foam, and carbon fiber Flyplate technology for hybrid movements such as sled pushes and pulls, lunges, rows, ski ergs and runs. The global sports company worked with elite hybrid athletes like Dylan Scott as well as everyday athletes to inform, refine and pressure-test the system against the demands of hybrid training and racing.

What's unique about the new Nike shoes?

The Nike Hybrid Fly shoe combines ZoomX foam, a full-length carbon Flyplate and dual forefoot Air Zoom units to help maintain speed on the run. The cushioning system is paired with a wider, more stable base designed to increase traction and help athletes minimise the micro-adjustments often required when transitioning into station work. Additional features include race lockdown laces, four-zone traction with sticky rubber and sidewall wraps to help maximise grip and security across varied surfaces, and a lightweight engineered mesh upper reinforced with zoned haptic lines for structure and durability.

“I have always wanted a shoe that ran like the snappy carbon-plated shoes but found a way to put a stable footing and grip out on the race floor as well,” says Scott, Nike world champion hybrid athlete. “I kept finding that I could get two out of three of those aspects but never all three to come together until the Hybrid Fly. It was the shoe I trusted to get the job done, and it did.”

On the other hand, the Nike Hybrid RN combines ReactX foam and a forefoot Air Zoom unit to create a smooth, responsive ride while maintaining the stability athletes need for lifts. A wide outsole and X-shaped upper overlays help secure the foot during transitions, while a dual-rubber outsole delivers optimal traction across multiple surfaces. Engineered mesh construction helps keep athletes comfortable and supported throughout training.

“Hybrid asks a lot more of a shoe than road running does,” says Lauren Weeks, Nike world champion hybrid athlete. “You’re constantly switching between running and strength movements, so it makes sense to wear something solely designed for both. Having a shoe that can handle those demands lets you focus on your race or training instead of thinking about your footwear.”

The Nike Hybrid RN will release in China on September 24 before becoming available globally on October 8 at nike.com and select retail locations. The Nike Hybrid Fly will launch globally in April 2027.

The film is expected to be an extraordinary story of artistry, heritage, and craftsmanship that unfolded behind the scenes.

Who has made the jewellery for Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana'?

Tribe Amrapali has crafted the intricate jewellery that adorns the film’s characters, translating centuries of mythology, symbolism, and Indian craftsmanship into a visual language for a new generation.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and filmed for IMAX, Ramayana is a grand cinematic retelling of one of India’s most revered epics, set for a global release during Diwali 2026 and 2027.

Drawing inspiration from one of the most celebrated epics of all time, the film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, while Yash takes on the powerful role of formidable Ravana. Sunny Deol portrays the mighty Hanuman, with Ravi Dubey stepping into the role of Lakshman.

Over a period of more than 18 months, Indian jewellery brand’s design team, under the creative leadership of Tarang Arora collaborated with the film’s creative team, undertaking extensive research into mythology, ancient Indian ornamentation, temple art, sculptures, and symbolic narratives to create a jewellery language that feels authentic to the world of Ramayana while meeting the scale and visual grandeur of modern cinema.

Intricate details of Ranbir Kapoor's jewellery while portraying Lord Ram

At the heart of Ram’s first look is a 335-gram statement necklace inspired by Kodanda, Lord Ram’s divine bow, symbolising strength, righteousness, and divine purpose. Crafted in silver and brass, the ornament serves as a visual expression of Ram’s noble character, his Suryavanshi lineage, and his embodiment of dharma.

The design incorporates a rich tapestry of symbolic motifs - circular medallions inspired by the Dharma Chakra, sun motifs representing the Solar Dynasty, lotus elements signifying purity and divinity, and intricate floral details drawn from the sacred gardens of Mithila and the Pushp Vatika, where Ram and Sita’s journey first intertwined.

The jewellery showcases a remarkable blend of traditional craftsmanship and intricate metalwork. Embossed relief techniques lend depth and dimension to the floral motifs and medallions, while fine engraving and chasing bring intricate surface textures to life. Filigree-inspired openwork adds delicacy to the central pendant, while granulation-inspired beadwork enhances the ornamental borders. The braided-chain construction creates a textile-like richness while maintaining structural integrity. Each component, from the motifs and chains to the central pendant, was individually crafted, assembled, and finished with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a piece that reflects the regal grandeur and spiritual essence of Lord Ram.

Commenting on the collaboration, Arora said, "We all grew up with the story of the Ramayana as we knew it, but this project is reimagining that timeless epic for a new generation. It has the potential to become the Ramayana that today’s children and future audiences will connect with and remember. . It is deeply rooted in our mythology, culture, and spirituality."

He adds, "The challenge was not merely creating ornaments but building a complete visual vocabulary for an expansive universe of characters, each carrying a unique identity, emotion, and journey. For Lord Ram, every detail had to embody his qualities of dharma, strength, compassion, and nobility. The process involved balancing deep research with artistic interpretation, ensuring every motif, texture, and element remained meaningful while serving the cinematic vision of the film."

At the Taj Palace in New Delhi, Rohit Bal's latest collection, 'DASTKAR', paid tribute to the artisans who have worked with the fashion house for more than three decades. The collection put the focus on the embroiderers, weavers, dyers, pattern makers and karigars who have played an important role in creating Bal's designs over the years.

The collection drew from French tapestries, vintage wallpapers and patterns made with lines and dots. Silks, velvets and traditional textiles were used across the collection, along with hand embroidery, detailed surface work and sculpted silhouettes.

The collection also carried forward the design language associated with late designer Rohit Bal, who often took inspiration from Indian art, architecture, nature and culture. His work has featured motifs such as the lotus, peacock, rose and chinar, along with references to Kashmir, Mughal gardens, miniature paintings and traditional crafts.

Meanwhile, Falguni Shane Peacock opened FDCI's Hyundai India Couture Week 2026 with their collection 'Le Grand Voyage', presented by KOHLER.

The collection took inspiration from places and architecture across Europe and India, including the Byzantine mosaics of Rome, Paris from the Belle Epoque period, Strasbourg, the palaces of Bavaria and the Taj Mahal. The designers brought these references to the runway through hand-beaded jackets and lehengas, embroidered sherwanis, corsetry, capes and eveningwear.

The collection was also created in collaboration with KOHLER, with the designers drawing from the brand's colours and finishes. Shades such as Teakberry, Cashmere and Honed Blush, along with metallic finishes including Brushed Rose Gold, Brushed Bronze, Brushed Moderne Brass and French Gold, were used as references for the couture designs.

While both collections drew inspiration from traditional aesthetics, the designers stayed true to their signature design languages.

Marking a significant milestone in her design journey, Masaba Gupta presented her first-ever bridal couture collection - 'Chardi Kala', bringing her bold prints and unconventional sensibilities into the world of wedding fashion.

"The journey begins in the sacred landscapes of India before drifting into the blue-green waters of Antigua and the vibrant tropics of the Caribbean. Bridal seamlessly transforms into resort bridal," states the official description of Masaba's bridal collection.

For Masaba, models took to the runway in an array of traditional ensembles, dressed in stunning full-flared lehengas, intricately embroidered dupattas, metallic zari work, shimmering sequins, and meticulous handcrafted embellishment. It was combined with modern couture touches like structured layering, different draping and styling.

On the other hand, celebrated fashion designer JJ Valaya unveiled his Autumn/Winter 2026 collection 'SIDDI', translating his vision into bridal couture, occasion wear, menswear, and more.

Taking to the runway, the showcase featured the likes of intricately crafted lehengas, contemporary saris, fluid anarkalis, regal sherwanis and impeccably tailored bandhgalas. They were adorned in a palette of antique gold, ivory, noir, champagne, deep jewel tones and rich earth hues.

Speaking on his collection, Valaya, in a statement, shared, "SIDDI began with the idea of a journey, one that crossed oceans, geographies and centuries, eventually creating an identity entirely its own. I was fascinated by the Siddis of India and by this extraordinary confluence of African origins with the many cultural influences absorbed over generations on the Indian subcontinent."

At Giorgio Armani Prive, she embodied Italian minimalism in Look 74, an iridescent blue jacket of liquid fluidity that rippled with deep violets and forest greens. The deceptively simple silhouette, defined at the waist with decades of Armani's architectural expertise, became a meditation on what happens when technical brilliance meets restraint. An ultra-exclusive Louis Vuitton Capucines handbag, custom-embedded with shimmering Swarovski crystals, provided a whisper of opulence, but it was the jewelry that made the statement: a 30-carat panther-motif ear piece fully pavé-set with hundreds of brilliant diamonds, paired with the same 23-carat yellow diamond and 30-carat rose-cut polki diamond rings that dominated Met Gala headlines weeks prior. These were not new pieces. They were, however, unforgettable.

A day later, Elie Saab's Capsule Citrus & Salt collection found Reddy in an entirely different register, Mediterranean romance rendered in delicate floral embroidery and luminous citrus tones. The strapless couture gown embodied what Saab does better than perhaps anyone working today: making luxury feel effortless. A custom-made turquoise Elie Saab ear cuff, a rare house gesture, sat at her ear, while the seashell-inspired Cult Gaia Sirena Clutch grounded the ethereal silhouette in something tactile and immediate. A 21-carat pigeon red ruby ring and an exceptional 25-carat emerald ring spoke to decades of connoisseurship. These were historic statements rendered in the rarest materials available.

As the Paris evening deepened, Reddy made her final and most dramatic statement: Manish Malhotra's architectural Indian haute couture debut. A structured corseted gown paired with a bold, cropped jacket featuring sharp architectural puff sleeves in rich chocolate brown created a silhouette of pure sculptural intent. Hand-embroidered with intricate floral motifs and three-dimensional embellishments that created topographical texture and visual dimension, the piece showcased Indian craftsmanship at its most ambitious. Here, Reddy deployed her most precious jewellery statement: a custom-designed, 75-carat diamond-encrusted bow necklace inspired by timeless Persian antiquity, draped across her chest like a benediction. A delicate floral diamond piece adorned her hair, while a 25-carat square-cut diamond ring and a 21-carat round-cut diamond ring completed an ensemble that felt less like a fashion moment and more like a coronation.

Across Paris's most prestigious venues, Reddy proved that the front row is a medium for self-expression as legitimate as any runway. With Giorgio Armani Privé, she spoke Italian minimalism and sculptural restraint. With Elie Saab, she embraced Mediterranean poetry and the romance of intricate hand-embroidery. With Manish Malhotra, she championed India craftsmanship and architectural haute couture at its most ambitious. In each moment, she was not borrowing a house's vocabulary, she was enriching it, dialoguing with it, proving that true style is not about wearing what you're told to wear, but understanding yourself so completely that every choice becomes eloquent self-expression.

Fresh off making history as the first mainstream Indian artist to break into the K-pop universe via a blockbuster collaboration with global girl group LE SSERAFIM on the ‘BOOMPALA’ remix. His presence signals the shifting dynamics of global influence, highlighting the commanding role that contemporary Indian cultural icons now occupy within the global fashion landscape.

Standing out as the only India-born Punjabi entertainment talent present at Paris Fashion Week this season, Randhawa brushed elbows with A-listers such as Maluma, Joshua Hong, Fally Ipupa, Russell Westbrook and Lunay.

Guru Randhawa's making a fashion statement

Randhawa delivered a masterclass in relaxed, high-status tailoring in a dark blue striped AMIRI double-breasted blazer and matching high-waisted leather trousers. Layered over an unbuttoned navy silk-poplin shirt, the structured, generous-shouldered silhouette subverted classic codes with rock-and-roll nonchalance. The fluid volume and pooling drape of the trousers perfectly balanced sharp vintage executive style with a modern, laid-back Hollywood edge. Every accessory element was meticulously curated to complement the high-status aesthetic. Randhawa paired the tailoring with black acetate AMIRI Venice sunglasses, burgundy AMIRI Lizard MA Pochette bag, AMIRI Lizard MA pointy boots and the Rolex Datejust Wimbledon.

It wasn't just this but also defying the standard conventions of western wrist styling, Randhawa proudly wore a traditional silver Punjabi Sikh Kada. The piece served as a deliberate, high-contrast cultural anchor representing his culture and community, a declaration that no matter how global the stage becomes, his heritage travels with him. By intertwining an ancient cultural symbol of identity with cutting-edge streetwear-infused tailoring, Randhawa delivered a powerful dialogue on modern roots, proving that true style honours personal legacy above all else.

Reflecting on his debut, Randhawa shares, "I’ve known Mike Amiri for many years now and have been an admirer of his creative leadership. The showcase felt like an extension of my artistic vision: bold, unapologetic, yet deeply respectful of craft and tradition."

But according to fashion experts, it doesn't have to change your sense of style

For many young dads, dressing well often takes a backseat to school runs, office meetings, grocery errands, and weekend playdates. Comfort becomes the default, and fashion can start feeling like an unnecessary effort. Yet looking polished doesn't require an entirely new wardrobe or hours spent planning outfits.

This Father's Day, observed on June 21, fashion experts share practical ways for modern Indian dads to refine their everyday look with smarter fabrics, better-fitting clothes, versatile footwear, and thoughtful accessories. The goal isn't to look overdressed, it's to look put-together, comfortable, and confident while keeping up with the demands of fatherhood.

Start with better fabrics

One of the biggest style challenges for dads, especially during Indian summers, is finding clothes that stay comfortable and presentable throughout the day. Linen has long been a favourite warm-weather fabric, but anyone who has carried a toddler or spent time chasing children around knows how quickly it wrinkles.

According to Amritha Ram, creative director at KH House of Khaddar, a modern alternative is gaining popularity. "One of the best alternatives to linen with a similar feel is crinkle, or ripple, Khadi. It is a beautifully textured variation of traditional Indian handspun cotton Khadi," she says.

Unlike traditional fabrics that require constant maintenance, crinkle Khadi offers a naturally relaxed texture that works in its favour. "The permanent crinkled effect gives the fabric a relaxed, airy feel while maintaining a structured, modern finish. It is naturally breathable and requires little to no ironing, making it ideal for everyday summer wear," says Ram.

Fabric checklist for dads:
1. Choose breathable fabrics that allow airflow.
2. Look for textured materials that disguise wrinkles.
3. Opt for fabrics requiring minimal ironing.

Prioritise comfort without sacrificing structure.

The secret to looking leaner isn't losing weight

Many fathers find their bodies changing after parenthood. Long workdays, irregular schedules, and limited time for exercise often lead to weight gain around the midsection. The good news? Smart styling can make a noticeable difference.

"The easiest way to create a more flattering silhouette is to opt for structured fabrics," says Ram. She explains that stretchy, clingy fabrics often highlight the stomach area, while fabrics with texture and structure are far more forgiving. “Crinkle Khadi naturally diffuses light and shadow, helping camouflage unevenness while maintaining a polished look.”

Fit matters just as much as fabric. Rather than squeezing into slim-fit shirts or hiding behind oversized clothing, Ram recommends choosing balanced cuts.

"I would suggest straight or athletic cuts and avoiding both extremes, overly slim fits that hug the body and oversized silhouettes that add unnecessary volume," says Ram.

Quick styling tricks that instantly flatter:
1. Choose straight-cut or athletic-fit shirts.
2. Avoid skin-tight and excessively loose silhouettes.
3. Stick to structured fabrics over clingy knits.
4. Wear darker shades as base layers.
5. Focus on proportion rather than size.

Master the power of the layer

One of the simplest tricks in menswear is layering—and it works especially well for dads. Ram calls it the layer. "An open, unbuttoned shirt, whether it's a denim shirt, utility jacket, or lightweight overshirt worn over a darker T-shirt, can make a significant difference," says Ram.

The visual effect is surprisingly powerful. "The open outer layer creates two vertical lines that frame the torso, visually narrowing the midsection and creating a leaner overall silhouette." Best of all, it requires little effort and works across seasons.

The foolproof three-piece formula every dad should know

Most dads don't have the luxury of spending time experimenting with outfits every morning. That's why simplicity matters. According to Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, founders of Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, a reliable outfit formula eliminates guesswork while still looking polished. "The simplest formula is a shirt, tailored trousers, and a lightweight structured layer such as a jacket or overshirt. Stick to neutrals such as white, beige, navy, olive, and charcoal," says Khanna.

Why does it work? "It removes decision fatigue because everything is built around clean proportions and easy coordination. A neutral palette keeps it sharp and effortless," says Gandhi. This formula can seamlessly transition between office meetings, family lunches, travel days, and evening outings.

Build a capsule wardrobe that works harder

The most stylish men often own fewer clothes than people expect. The key lies in choosing versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched easily.

"A capsule wardrobe should be built around reliability," says Khanna. Instead of chasing trends, Khanna recommends investing in timeless essentials.

Every dad's capsule wardrobe should include

A well-curated capsule wardrobe is built around versatile essentials that can be mixed and matched effortlessly, helping dads look polished without overthinking their outfits.

Shirts
A crisp white shirt that works equally well for office meetings, family celebrations, and formal occasions.

Soft neutral shirts in shades such as beige, light blue, grey, or olive that pair easily with most trousers and layers.

Casual button-down shirts that can be dressed up or down for weekends, travel, and everyday wear.

Trousers
Navy trousers that offer a smart alternative to black and can transition seamlessly from work to social settings.

Beige chinos for a relaxed yet refined look that complements both casual and smart-casual outfits.

Charcoal tailored pants that serve as a versatile foundation for everything from business meetings to evening events.

Layers
A lightweight jacket for added structure and effortless style during transitional weather.

A structured overshirt that can be layered over T-shirts or shirts to instantly elevate a simple outfit.

A casual blazer that brings polish to everyday dressing without feeling overly formal.

Occasion wear
A well-tailored tuxedo or formal suit, a timeless investment that ensures you're prepared for weddings, celebrations, formal dinners, and special milestones without last-minute wardrobe stress.

"These are the pieces that quietly carry you through most situations without the need for constant reinvention," says Khanna.

Looking sharp doesn't mean feeling restricted

Many men mistakenly assume that stylish clothes are uncomfortable. Khanna believes the problem often comes down to poor construction rather than poor fit. "The focus should be on construction rather than just size," Gandhi explains.

Good tailoring isn't about wearing the smallest possible size. "Shoulder alignment, armhole comfort, and natural drape matter far more than a tight fit," he adds. When these details are correct, clothes move naturally with the body while maintaining a polished appearance.

Before buying, check:
1. Shoulder seams sit correctly.
2. Sleeves allow comfortable movement.
3. Fabric drapes naturally.
4. You can sit, bend, and lift easily.
5. Clothes feel comfortable before they feel fashionable.

The right shoes can change everything

Footwear is often where dads struggle most. Formal shoes can feel stiff and exhausting during long days, while athletic sneakers may look too casual for everyday wear.

According to Charru Sharrma, Founder of House of Vitti India, modern men's footwear is finally finding a middle ground. "For years, men have found themselves choosing between two extremes—formal shoes that often feel too stiff for long hours and gym sneakers that can appear overly casual."

Today's smart-casual footwear category offers a practical solution. "Leather loafers, soft moccasins, and minimal, well-crafted sneakers are becoming wardrobe essentials," says Sharma. These styles deliver both comfort and sophistication. "They provide a refined look without compromising on flexibility, cushioning, or all-day wearability."

A guide to pairing your footwear
1. Leather loafers: A versatile choice that pairs effortlessly with tailored trousers, chinos, and smart-casual outfits, making them ideal for office wear, family dinners, and polished weekend outings.
2. Soft moccasins: Offering a relaxed yet refined look, moccasins work well with linen trousers, chinos, and casual separates, making them perfect for travel, casual Fridays, and everyday errands.
3. Minimal sneakers: Clean, understated sneakers can be styled with everything from jeans and joggers to tailored separates, making them a go-to option for school runs, airport looks, and casual work environments.

Accessories can be dad friendly

You don't need statement pieces to elevate an outfit. In fact, subtle accessories often make the biggest impact.

A well-chosen watch, a pair of quality sunglasses, or understated jewellery can instantly make casual clothing look more intentional. And for parents, durability matters just as much as aesthetics.

According to Paridhi Patodia and Shrishti Agarwal, founders of Parishri Jewellery, today's consumers are increasingly seeking accessories that fit seamlessly into everyday life. "We're seeing growing demand for jewellery that can withstand everyday wear including being tugged at, grabbed by curious little hands, or accidentally dropped without compromising on aesthetics."

The focus has shifted from occasion dressing to daily versatility. They share a list of parent-friendly accessories:
1. Structured cuffs: Elegant yet sturdy pieces that add a refined touch without getting in the way of daily activities.
2. Solid bangles: Durable and versatile accessories that can be worn alone or stacked for a more elevated look.
3. Stud earrings: Comfortable, low-maintenance essentials that offer understated sophistication and are less likely to snag or get damaged.
4. Shorter pendants: Practical and stylish necklaces that stay secure while complementing both casual and formal outfits.
5. Classic watches: Timeless accessories that instantly make an outfit feel more polished while remaining highly functional.
6. Timeless sunglasses: A wardrobe staple that combines style and practicality, adding a sophisticated finishing touch while providing everyday sun protection. These pieces are less likely to snag, get damaged, or interfere with daily activities.

"Parents today are looking for accessories that transition seamlessly from school drop-offs and playdates to work meetings and evening engagements," says Patodia.

Buy less, choose better

One of the strongest trends shaping modern style is mindful consumption. Rather than purchasing large numbers of trendy pieces, consumers are investing in fewer, higher-quality items that last longer.

Patodia and Agarwal say today's shoppers value longevity as much as appearance. "Premium today is no longer defined only by appearance. It is equally about longevity, functionality, and the confidence that a piece can keep up with the pace of modern life."

For dads, that philosophy makes particular sense. A wardrobe filled with versatile, well-made essentials often delivers more value than one packed with short-lived trends.

The modern dapper dad

The modern dad doesn't need a complete style overhaul. Small, intentional upgrades, a better fabric, a smarter fit, a versatile shoe, or a thoughtfully chosen accessory, can transform how an outfit looks and feels.

The key is finding pieces that work with your lifestyle rather than against it. Because the most successful dad wardrobe isn't one that looks perfect in photos; it's one that stays comfortable through school runs, office meetings, playground visits, family dinners, and everything in between.

After all, being a dapper dad isn't about dressing up. It's about dressing well for the life you're already living.

In this complete guide, we’ll cover everything from history and types to styling, fit, and buying tips so you can confidently choose and wear lederhosen.

What Are Lederhosen?

Lederhosen are traditional German leather shorts worn primarily in Bavaria and Alpine regions. The word “lederhosen” literally means “leather breeches,” reflecting their original purpose as durable and functional clothing for outdoor work.

Originally designed for labor-intensive tasks, lederhosen for men have transformed into a cultural symbol worn during festivals and celebrations. They are known for their high-quality leather construction, decorative embroidery, adjustable suspenders, and rugged yet comfortable design. Today, they are considered an essential part of any Oktoberfest authentic outfit, combining history with modern style.

The History of Lederhosen Men Wear

Lederhosen date back to the 18th century when peasants, hunters, and workers in Alpine regions needed clothing that could withstand tough physical labor and harsh environmental conditions. These regions often involved mountainous terrain, unpredictable weather, and demanding daily tasks, making durability a top priority. Leather quickly became the preferred material because it was strong, flexible, and highly resistant to wear and tear. Unlike fabric garments, leather could endure years of use without losing its shape, making lederhosen a practical and long-lasting solution for everyday work.

As time passed, lederhosen began to evolve beyond their functional purpose. By the late 19th century, as modernization changed clothing trends, traditional garments like lederhosen were preserved as part of regional identity. Cultural groups and communities in Bavaria started wearing them during festivals and celebrations to maintain a connection to their heritage. This shift transformed lederhosen from simple workwear into a proud symbol of tradition and craftsmanship.

Today, lederhosen men wear much more than clothing, they reflect history, cultural pride, and a sense of belonging. They are widely recognized at events like Oktoberfest, where people from around the world come together to celebrate Bavarian traditions. Wearing lederhosen is not just about style; it is about honoring a legacy that has been passed down through generations while continuing to keep that tradition alive in modern times.

Different Types of Lederhosen for Men

This guide dives deep into the origins, craftsmanship, styling, and modern relevance of traditional lederhosen along with how pieces like the mens trachten jacket complete the authentic Bavarian look.

What Are Traditional Lederhosen?

Traditional lederhosen are short or knee-length leather breeches that originated in the Alpine regions of Germany and Austria. The word itself translates to “leather trousers,” but that simple definition barely scratches the surface.

Historically, these garments were worn by peasants, hunters, and laborers because of their durability. Made from tough leather such as deerskin or goatskin, lederhosen were designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions while providing comfort and flexibility.

Over time, what began as practical workwear evolved into a symbol of pride and cultural identity. Today, wearing traditional lederhosen is not just about style, it’s about honoring heritage.

The History Behind Lederhosen

To truly appreciate traditional lederhosen, you need to understand their roots.

In the 18th century, lederhosen were everyday attire for working-class men in Bavaria. However, as urban fashion trends shifted toward more formal clothing, lederhosen began to decline in popularity.

That changed in the late 19th century when cultural preservation movements in Bavaria revived traditional clothing. Lederhosen became a symbol of regional pride, worn during festivals, celebrations, and cultural events.

This revival laid the foundation for what we see today, lederhosen as both a cultural emblem and a global fashion statement.

The Craftsmanship: Why Authentic Lederhosen Stand Out

Not all lederhosen are created equal. The true beauty of traditional lederhosen lies in their craftsmanship.

Premium Materials

Authentic lederhosen are typically made from:

Deerskin (soft, luxurious, and durable)

Goatskin (lighter and more affordable)

Cowhide (strong and structured)

Each type of leather offers a unique feel and longevity, but all share one key trait—durability that can last decades.

Hand Embroidery

One of the defining features of traditional lederhosen is the intricate embroidery. These patterns often represent regional symbols, nature motifs, or family heritage.

Tailored Fit

Unlike mass-produced garments, traditional lederhosen are designed to mold to your body over time. The leather softens with wear, creating a personalized fit that becomes more comfortable with age.

Key Features of Traditional Lederhosen

Understanding the components helps you identify authentic pieces:

Suspenders (Hosenträger): Often decorated with embroidery and essential for a traditional look

Drop Front Flap (Hosenlatz): A distinctive feature that adds both function and style

Side Knife Pocket: Originally used by hunters and workers

Adjustable Waistband: Ensures a snug and comfortable fit

Each element has a purpose rooted in history, making lederhosen both functional and symbolic.

Styling Traditional Lederhosen for Modern Wear

While deeply traditional, lederhosen can be styled in ways that feel fresh and contemporary.

Classic Bavarian Look

For an authentic appearance:

Lederhosen (knee-length preferred)

Checkered or white shirt

Knee-high socks (Loferl)

Haferl shoes

Casual Modern Twist

For a more relaxed approach:

Pair lederhosen with a plain t-shirt

Add sneakers instead of traditional shoes

Keep accessories minimal

Elevated Cultural Style

This is where the men’s trachten jacket comes in.

The Role of the Men’s Trachten Jacket

No traditional outfit is complete without the right outerwear. The men’s trachten jacket adds sophistication and depth to the lederhosen ensemble.

What Is a Trachten Jacket?

A trachten jacket is a traditional Alpine jacket, typically made from wool, loden, or tweed. It’s tailored, structured, and often features decorative buttons and embroidery.

Why It Matters

Adds Elegance: Instantly elevates the outfit

Seasonal Versatility: Perfect for cooler weather

Cultural Authenticity: Completes the traditional Bavarian look

Styling Tips

Pair a dark green or charcoal trachten jacket with brown lederhosen

Choose contrasting buttons for visual interest

Ensure a tailored fit for a sharp appearance

When styled correctly, the combination of traditional lederhosen and a men’s trachten jacket creates a look that is both timeless and refined.

Lederhosen in Modern Fashion

In recent years, traditional clothing has made a strong comeback. People are moving away from fast fashion and embracing garments with meaning and longevity.

Lederhosen fits perfectly into this shift.

Why It’s Trending Again

Sustainable materials (real leather lasts decades)

Unique, non-repetitive designs

Cultural storytelling

Strong presence at global events like Oktoberfest

Fashion influencers and designers are also incorporating traditional elements into modern collections, further boosting the appeal of lederhosen.

Choosing the Right Traditional Lederhosen

If you’re investing in a pair, here’s what to look for:

Material Quality

Always prioritize genuine leather. Synthetic alternatives may look similar but lack durability and authenticity.

Fit

Lederhosen should feel snug initially—they will loosen and adapt over time.

Craftsmanship

Look for detailed embroidery, strong stitching, and quality hardware.

Length

Short: More casual and modern

Knee-length: Traditional and versatile

Caring for Your Lederhosen

Proper care ensures longevity.

Avoid machine washing

Clean with a damp cloth

Use leather conditioner occasionally

Store in a cool, dry place

With the right care, traditional lederhosen can last for decades—often becoming heirloom pieces.

When to Wear Traditional Lederhosen

While Oktoberfest is the most obvious occasion, lederhosen can be worn in many settings:

Cultural festivals

Weddings (especially themed or rustic)

Heritage events

Travel experiences in Europe

Fashion-forward casual outings

The versatility of lederhosen makes it more than just festival attire—it’s a statement piece.

The Cultural Significance

Wearing traditional lederhosen is about more than aesthetics. It represents:

Respect for heritage

Appreciation of craftsmanship

Connection to history

In Bavaria, these garments are worn with pride, often passed down through generations.

Why Quality Matters More Than Ever

In a world dominated by cheap, disposable fashion, investing in authentic traditional lederhosen is a statement.

It says you value:

Longevity over trends

Craftsmanship over mass production

Identity over imitation

And when paired with a well-crafted men’s trachten jacket, the result is a wardrobe that stands out in any setting.

Final Thoughts

Traditional lederhosen have stood the test of time for a reason. They combine durability, functionality, and cultural depth in a way few garments can.

Whether you’re attending Oktoberfest, exploring heritage fashion, or simply looking for something unique, lederhosen offers an unmatched experience. Add a men’s trachten jacket to the mix, and you elevate that experience into something truly iconic.

In the end, it’s not just about what you wear it’s about what your clothing represents. And traditional lederhosen tells a story worth wearing.

Learn how to transition your wardrobe using breathable Khadi, and refined utility staples for the 2026 summer season

The transition from a lingering winter to a sudden, sweltering heat is often jarring, leaving most of us staring at a closet full of clothes that suddenly feel too heavy and restrictive. When the summer winds start blowing, the goal isn't just to shed layers—it’s to pivot your style toward pieces that can handle a high-speed, high-temperature lifestyle without losing their edge.

Navigating this shift requires a practical toolkit. It’s about moving away from transitory trends and toward a way of dressing that prioritises airflow, comfort, and effortless cool. By focusing on breathable heritage textiles and streamlined, functional utility, you can build a wardrobe that feels as light as it looks. Fashion experts share tips on how to curate your look for the hot months ahead, ensuring you stay sharp even as the mercury rises.

The heritage-core revival

The most significant movement this spring is the massive heritage-core revival. For decades, traditional textiles like Khadi or handloom were relegated to the occasion-wear section of the closet, brought out only for weddings or formal cultural events. Today, designers are reimagining them as daily essentials. For Saim Ghani, founder and creative director at Saim, the goal is to marry our traditional and historical selves into the fast, function, hustle style of today.

For those looking to anchor their wardrobe in heritage without feeling like they are wearing a costume, Ghani identifies five essential pieces that transition seamlessly from the boardroom to a weekend brunch:

Ghani believes that carrying a piece of India with us daily provides a "tiny brim of nostalgia and culture." However, the modern reader often struggles with the "costume trap"—feeling as though wearing traditional fabrics requires a full commitment to an ethnic look. To counter this, Ghani identifies five anchor pieces that transition seamlessly from the boardroom to a weekend brunch:

The statement saree: A timeless staple that gives you fabric area to play with allowing for creative draping that can feel avant-garde rather than just traditional.

The basic oversize shirt: Perhaps the most versatile item in the toolkit, functioning as a kurta, blouse, or just a dress, depending on the layering needs of the day.

The lungi skirt: A masterclass in ease, this piece is super comfortable and can easily shift from Indian to western clothing, offering a sleek silhouette that mimics a modern wrap skirt.

The long jacket: A transformative layer you can throw on to literally everything, serving as either a protective outer shell or the focal point of the outfit.

Wide-legged trousers: Because wherever you are, comfort is most important.

By integrating these pieces, the modern dresser avoids the costume trap, instead achieving a look that is effortless. The trick lies in adaptation. “Replacing and adapting one element of today into anything traditional—is effortlessly chic," he says.

Quality over quiddity: The 10-year wardrobe

In an era of fleeting micro-trends, the experts are calling for a return to longevity. Ghani warns, "Trends have always normed us into boxes," encouraging readers to ignore the noise and focus on three specific markers of quality that ensure a garment lasts a decade rather than a single season:

1. Construction and finish: If your garment is not well stitched, it’s anyway not going to last long. A well-made garment is the foundation of versatility and re-wearability. He suggests looking at the internal seams and the strength of the finishings, these small details dictate the actual lifespan of the piece.

2. Classic yet experimental cuts: Look for a pattern that can function as a separate across your entire wardrobe. Seek pieces where one piece may act as ten individual ones, ensuring the look never dies and always feels new. This is the essence of a sustainable wardrobe—garments that evolve with your personal style.

3. Fabric intelligence: Understanding the distinctive care measures of your fabric is vital. Fabric defines the demographic of the piece—the occasion, time, and season—making it essential to invest in materials that suit your actual lifestyle. Investing in materials that suit your actual lifestyle and climate is the ultimate form of responsible consumption.

Breathable utility

While heritage-core looks backward to move forward, the khaki coded or utility trend focuses on the pragmatic needs of the present. Prasoon Sharma, founder and creative director at Triune, argues that utility in the Indian context must be redefined to combat rising temperatures.

"Utility doesn’t have to translate as heavy or rigid. It is less about bulk and more about intentional placement. It becomes a way of reinterpreting function through lightness and ease," Sharma explains.

The 2026 interpretation of utility swaps heavy canvases for breathable cottons, linen blends, and lightweight fabrics that allow airflow while maintaining a crisp structure. Sharma notes, “The excess of traditional utility is being replaced by considered design. Cargo pockets are becoming refined, flattened, or subtly integrated into seams and field jackets are evolving into modular layers with detachable sleeves that respond to the fluctuating climate.”

The 2026 hero layer: Solving the Indo-Western transition

One of the greatest challenges is the shift from cool mornings to scorching afternoons. To solve this, Sharma points to a specific combination as the season's hero ensemble: the linen-khadi shirt paired with loose cotton pants.

"It’s light, breathable, and works without overcomplicating things. You can throw it on, wear it open through the day, button it up when needed. This pairing bridges the Indo-Western divide naturally, offering a silhouette that feels relevant right now because it refuses to try too hard,” poses Sharma. It is an honest response to the environment that doesn't sacrifice style for the sake of utility.

Indian stealth wealth: Restrained craftsmanship

As the global quiet luxury movement continues to influence aesthetics, the challenge for Indian fashion—often defined by celebratory vibrancy—is to find a stealth wealth equivalent. Sharma, who works closely with local artisans, believes the secret lies in presenting Indian crafts beyond a traditionally Indian lens.

This Indian stealth wealth is achieved through:

Global silhouettes: Using jackets, pants, and shirts that feel familiar and global but are constructed with the depth of Indian craftsmanship.

Tonal embroidery: Moving away from high-contrast embellishment toward work that is more restrained, contemporary and often more controlled.

Subtle integration: The goal is for the handwork to blend into the garment rather than standing out.

“By keeping the craft tonal and the silhouettes structured, readers can achieve a look of immense value and heritage that whispers rather than screams,” concludes Sharma. In 2026, the loudest statement you can make is one of quiet, curated quality. The seasonal transition becomes less about shopping for newness and more about curating a lifestyle that is responsive, responsible, and deeply rooted.

Speaking at the flagship store launch in Bandra, he emphasised that constant evolution is no longer optional but essential.

Raymond, long associated with fine fabrics and tailored suits, has taken a decisive leap into the world of immersive luxury with the launch of its Chairman’s Collection.

For a brand built over decades on textile excellence, this reinvention marks a decisive break from tradition. “It’s a game changer, from just a fabric manufacturing company to now a wide arena of products that the company is catering to,” he adds, underlining the scale of transformation underway.

At the heart of this shift lies a simple but defining philosophy. “Keep reinventing yourself—Raymond is completely reinventing itself, something we never did, so traditional,” Singhania says, positioning change not as a strategy but as a necessity.

Where luxury menswear in India remains under penetrated, Raymond appears to have identified a clear gap in the market. For a century year old legacy brand to step into an almost untapped space signals the emergence of a new and distinct luxury segment in the industry.

Defining 'quiet luxury,' the Chairman's way

In an age where luxury is often defined by opulence, Gautam Singhania is reframing the idea with a more personal lens.

“Luxury is whatever one is comfortable in. Not everyone can carry off what I’m wearing," he said.

He underscored that true luxury lies in comfort, confidence and individuality rather than excess. When asked about positioning the brand against global luxury houses like Prada and Gucci, he said, “This is Raymond for India."

A vision built on fusion and craft

Singhania’s approach to design reflects his broader worldview, one that embraces fusion. “It’s a mix, a complete fusion of embroidery, rich materials, prints, artisanal work and paintings; it’s a very made-to-measure collection,” he explains.

At the same time, his focus for the future remains firmly on elevating local artistry and proudly representing 'Made in India' on global platforms, taking Indian craftsmanship to international runways while ensuring artisans receive due credit, as said by one of Raymond's employees.

A measured yet ambitious outlook

Despite the bold shift, Singhania remains pragmatic about the journey ahead. “This line is a fresh start; let’s see how it goes,” he says, tempering ambition with realism.

The business strategy mirrors this balance. “We cater to a wide range, from Rs 150 to Rs 10 lakhs; we have everything,” he notes, highlighting an inclusive yet aspirational approach to luxury.

The store offers fine jewellery, including lab-grown diamonds; premium watches; sunglasses from Italy and around the world, curated fragrances and collectibles, creating a holistic luxury ecosystem experience.

According to Gautam Singhania, the vision was always larger than clothing. “The whole store is a piece of art, and there are so many favourites (from the collection); it's difficult to choose one.”

The collection displays an artistic playground where traditional techniques like zardozi and hand embroidery meet Renaissance-inspired prints and bold experimentation. From gallery-style displays to curated collectibles like Formula 1-inspired models and Art Deco pieces, every corner reflects a passion for artistry and detail. And she made sure that was true even when Britain's famously changeable weather intervened, pioneering the use of a clear plastic raincoat so that a stodgy black umbrella didn't obscure her from public view.

That raincoat is one of some 300 garments and other fashion artifacts that go on display Friday at the King's Gallery at Buckingham Palace in an exhibit that celebrates the late queen's life and reign as Britain prepares to mark the centenary of her birth.

The most comprehensive exhibition of her style choices ever mounted, the show charts Elizabeth's story, and her impact on British fashion.

"I think she had a definite sense of what suited her," exhibition curator Caroline de Guitaut said. "She absolutely knew how she wanted to appear."

An Olympian moment

Some of the items are easily recognisable since Elizabeth was one of the most photographed people ever. But the ball gowns, tweed suits and trademark headscarves are sometimes strange to see on museum mannequins instead of the queen herself. And then there are the items that are truly one-offs.

Like the dress, complete with bloomers, that Elizabeth's stunt double wore during the opening ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics, when the then-86-year-old queen appeared to parachute into the stadium alongside Daniel Craig in his James Bond persona. To complete the illusion, the queen soon emerged in the stands identically attired.

Both dresses, designed by Elizabeth's longtime dressmaker Angela Kelly, are displayed side by side, though the stunt double's version has large zipper in back to accommodate the parachute.

Fashion connection to the public

The exhibition, drawn from some 4,000 items once owned by the queen, explores how fashion became one of her most powerful tools of communication as she evolved from a young princess into Britain's longest-reigning monarch.

That could often be seen in her choice of colour and decorative detail, as in the green and white Norman Hartnell gown she chose to wear for the state banquet during her 1961 visit to Pakistan, honouring her hosts by donning their national colours.

"The queen had an intimate understanding of how fashion could lend itself to diplomacy, a trait which, while its origins certainly lay in earlier reigns, the queen developed into nothing short of an art form," de Guitaut said. "Colour or embellishment communicated messages of respect to her host nation before she had even uttered a word in her speech."

Particularly as she got older, Elizabeth opted to wear bright or distinctive shades during large public events so she could be easily spotted, and visitors could say they had seen the queen.

The exhibit also explores the queen's off-duty wardrobe. The tweed suits she wore at Balmoral Castle, the royal family's summer retreat in Scotland, are on display alongside clothes for riding, hiking and other outdoor pursuits.
There's a thick woolen coat Kelly designed during Elizabeth's later years alongside items by Burberry and British designer Hardy Amies.

Big occasions, big statement gowns

Clothes worn during the many milestones of the queen's long life are also on display, from her christening robe, commissioned by Queen Victoria for the baptism of the future King Edward VII, to dresses she wore for her wedding and coronation.

The exhibit also includes sketches and notes that show just how involved the queen was in designing her wardrobe.

Naomi Pike, commissioning editor for Elle UK, said the collection finally recognises Elizabeth's status as a fashion icon, even though other royals, including her younger sister, the late Princess Margaret, and her daughter-in-law, the late Princess Diana, stole the spotlight during her lifetime.

"I think we're very quick in this day and age to afford people icon status. ⿦ It's thrown around so easily," Pike said. "But I think in the case of the queen, she was an icon and so much of that comes down to having a very strong sense of personal style."

On fairy wings

While the gowns may be the exhibit's biggest draw, the show also provides a few surprises. With the task of showing us "what the monarch wore," the curators conjured up a somewhat battered fairy outfit made from a tutu with wings on the back.

The piece is a favourite of Cecilia Oliver, a textile conservator at the King's Gallery, who described it as the "cutest thing in the world."

"I think what I love most about it is that it was bought for Elizabeth as a child, and to think of her as this tiny little girl that then grew up into this magnificent woman with all this weight of responsibility on her shoulders, it just feels very, sort of sentimental," Oliver said.

Oliver grew almost wistful as she described the months of work on the exhibit and the privilege of handling so many things connected to a person familiar to so many but truly known by so few.

"As a conservator, I have a really intimate knowledge of these pieces. I've been able to touch them. I've been able to smell them. I've been able to understand them," she said. "And through that, I felt really close to her."

Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style runs until October 18 at the King's Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

It was a colour that signalled tradition, high-impact theatre, and a specific heritage costume. But as we move into 2026, a seismic shift is occurring under the mandap.

The modern bride is staging a non-red revolution. Influenced by the rise of quiet luxury, the technical demands of high-intensity LED lighting, and a growing consciousness toward garment longevity, brides are pivoting to a palette of sage, lavender, champagne, and ivory. This evolution is being shaped by modern design philosophies that prioritise versatility and sophistication.

Design experts delve into how the 2026 bride is redefining what it means to look regal, moving away from conventional norms toward a more personalised and contemporary elegance.

The litmus test: How to choose your forever shade

When you move away from the safety of red, the sheer volume of choices—from buttercream to steel blue—can be overwhelming. Shivani Nirupam, founder of label Shivani Nirupam, argues that while trends may dictate specific shades, the ultimate litmus test for a bride is emotional resonance and visual warmth.

"The most important thing to remember is that you have to look at your wedding pictures forever. Whether the trend is off-white or cream, the trend will fizzle out with time. To make your bridal attire truly timeless, pick your favourite colour,” says Nirupam.

However, Nirupam acknowledges that in a country where muhurat timings and monsoon rains are unpredictable, the environment plays a role. Her advice? Pick your battles:

1. The morning bride: If you love bright shades but want to avoid red, opt for warmer non-red tones that compliment the soft, gold morning light.
2. The monsoon/indoor bride: If you are a pastel girl but your rituals are indoors, opt for cool-toned decor to make your look stand out against the shadows.

Redefining regal in the era of quiet luxury

If red and gold represented the theatre of the past, what defines the high-fashion royalty of 2026? Rahul Khanna, creative director at Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, notes that the focus has shifted from loud announcements to tonal sophistication.

"Traditionally, regality was expressed through high-contrast combinations like red and gold that immediately signalled wedding. In 2026, the focus is on refinement, proportion, and personal expression. The bride is not moving away from grandeur; she is redefining it,” Khanna explains.

This quiet luxury move means the 2026 bride is prioritising her personal brand over a heritage uniform. “She wants to feel like herself, not a character in a costume. The power of sage or champagne lies in its ability to enhance the bride’s natural tone rather than overpowering it,” he adds.

The technical edge: Fabrics as built-in filters

One of the most practical drivers of the non-red trend is the evolution of wedding technology. Traditional, heavy, light-absorbing reds often look flat or excessively dark under the high-intensity LED setups common in modern 2026 mandaps.

Khanna highlights how fabrics like tissue silk, organza, and tulle act as natural reflectors, "Lighting has fundamentally changed how bridal wear is perceived. Dense textiles can absorb light, whereas lighter, translucent materials interact with it. Layered silhouettes allow light to pass through and scatter as the bride moves."

The result is what Khanna calls a soft halo or organic cinematic luminosity. “In a wedding film, these non-red fabrics act as a built-in filter, enhancing the bride’s complexion in a way that light-absorbing traditional fabrics simply cannot,” he poses.

Crafting the high-impact look without loud colour

A common fear for brides moving away from red is losing that bridal impact. Nirupam suggests that the safety net of high-impact colour can be replaced by architectural detail and strategic jewellery.

"The muted pastel story works well when you pick it up a notch with jewellery. A regal jadau set can pack a burst of vibrance on champagne or cream. Even creating lehengas out of your mother’s wedding saree is now considered a sign of luxury," Nirupam says.

For those opting for shades of white, she recommends:

1. Intricate zardozi: Meticulous gold thread work that adds a royal flair to pared-down shades.
2. Tonal contrast: Dramatising a baby pink lehenga with rubies or a pastel yellow lehenga with emeralds to break the monotony.

The jewellery shift

The transition to a non-red palette has fundamentally changed the bridal jewellery box. While gold and polki are traditional staples, they can feel heavy against lavender or sage.

Nirupam notes that for sunset pheras, diamonds offer an ethereal, minimalistic charm that serves as a sign of modest class. Furthermore, diamonds offer a versatility that gold often lacks—they can be repeated and repurposed easily.

Top jewellery trends include:

1. Pearls: For an old-worldly charm and vintage romance.
2. Tanzanite: Increasingly considered auspicious and pairing beautifully with shades of lavender or blue.
3. Monotone adornment: Matching the jewellery’s gemstones to the lehenga’s embroidery tones for a sophisticated, seamless look.

The taboo palettes: Five trends dominating 2026

Saurabh Gupta, co-founder of Kalki, identifies a total rejection of cookie-cutter looks. He muses, “Colours once considered inauspicious or taboo for the main ceremony are now at the forefront of the 2026 season.” Gupta outlines five key palettes:

1. The new whites: Once considered too minimal, ivory, and buttercream are now elevated with rich textiles for a look of understated elegance.
2. Sophisticated neutrals: Previously reserved for pre-wedding functions, champagne, sand, and beige are now main-ceremony favourites for their refined, luxurious feel.
3. Nature-inspired tones: Sage green, and olive resonate with the modern bride’s desire for "renewal and balance."
4. Couture blues: Powder blue, steel blue, and icy pastels are reinterpreted through high-fashion craftsmanship to offer a fresh, contemporary statement.
5. Modern greys: Once perceived as sombre, soft grey, dove tones are now modern neutrals that, when paired with silver or pearls, define quiet luxury.

The silver and pewter rebellion

For the first time in a decade, cool metallics are challenging the reign of gold. Khanna explains that designers are now using champagne-silver threads and 3D beadwork to ensure these cool tones don't look like standard evening gowns.

"Cooler metallics can actually sharpen radiance. They create a contrast that highlights the warmth of the skin rather than dulling it. By layering cool metallics with subtle warm undertones, designers are creating multidimensional looks that feel unmistakably bridal while remaining modern,” Khanna shares.

The afterlife of the wedding outfit

Perhaps the most significant driver for the non-red revolution is Intentionality. Gupta points out that 2026 brides are thinking about the afterlife of their attire.

"Brides are increasingly viewing their outfits as long-term investments. A champagne or sage lehenga transitions seamlessly into high-fashion galas or festive gatherings. It extends the life of the garment well beyond the wedding day,” Gupta says.

This move isn't just about minimalism, it’s about mindful luxury. “Brides are asking whether a piece can evolve with them. By choosing versatile colours and prioritising craftsmanship over theatrical colour, the 2026 bride is ensuring her investment piece remains relevant for decades,” he reflects.

Conclusion: A future-facing heritage

As the non-red revolution continues, it is clear that tradition isn't being abandoned—it’s being refined. Whether it is the focus on personal favourites, mastery of cinematic lighting, or embrace of unconventional palettes, the message is the same.

The 2026 bride respects her heritage, but she refuses to wear it as a uniform. She is choosing colours that spark joy, fabrics that hold light, and designs that promise a life beyond the wedding day. In 2026, the most regal thing a bride can be is unmistakably herself.

The days of stifling, heavy silks and restrictive, gold-laden brocades are giving way to a new philosophy: quiet regality. This season, festive menswear is shedding its weight in favour of liquid linen and structural sheer—concepts that prioritize the wearer’s comfort without sacrificing an ounce of prestige.

The modern man is no longer content with being a passive participant in tradition; he is looking for garments that breathe with him, from the early morning Salat to the late-night family Dawat. To navigate this shift toward breezy, effortless luxury, we sat down with two luminaries of Indian couture: Archana Jaju, creative director of her eponymous label known for heritage craftsmanship, and Aisha Rao, the founder and creative director of her namesake label celebrated for her colour-forward perspective.

The fabric revolution: Beyond the heavy silks

Archana Jaju notes, “There has been a decisive move toward fabrics that allow the garment to move naturally while still maintaining an elegant drape." Her top recommendations for a breathable festive season include:
1. Linen: It carries a relaxed texture that instantly feels summer-appropriate while still looking refined when tailored into kurtas or Nehru jackets.
2. Cotton voile: Soft, sheer, and lightweight, it works beautifully for layered kurtas, giving a breezy and refined finish.
3. Khadi: I gravitate toward khadi because it carries a sense of heritage. It brings understated sophistication while keeping the look light.
4. Silk-cotton blends: Perfect for festive occasions, they combine the softness and breathability of cotton with the subtle sheen of silk, giving outfits a more celebratory feel without making them heavy.
5. Chanderi: Its subtle sheen and elegant fall give it a luxurious feel, while still being breathable. This makes it ideal for tunics, kurtas, and light jackets.

Elevating the everyday: How to make linen festive

Linen is often associated with casual summer dressing, but Jaju argues that the secret lies in the tailoring and texture:
1. Tailored perspective: A well-cut linen kurta with clean lines or a softly structured Nehru jacket layered over it can immediately make the outfit feel more polished.
2. Textural contrast: When linen is paired with another fabric like chanderi or a light silk layer, the contrast subtly elevates the look.
3. Intricate detailing: Tone-on-tone embroidery, delicate thread work, or carefully chosen buttons can add character without overpowering the natural simplicity of linen.
4. Intentional accessories: A classic watch, a pair of beautifully crafted juttis, or even a subtle pocket square can transform a very minimal outfit into something that feels special enough for Eid.

Mastering the oversized silhouette

The oversized look is undeniably trending, but pulling it off requires a focus on balance and proportion:

1. Visual balance: A relaxed kurta, for example, looks great with more fitted trousers or straight-cut pants creating visual balance. The garment can still feel loose and comfortable, but it doesn’t appear shapeless.
2. Subtle structure: Even in oversized garments, elements like defined shoulders, well-placed seams, or soft pleats can help maintain form. These details give the garment purpose.
3. Anchoring with layers: A lightweight waistcoat or Nehru jacket can introduce another dimension while giving the silhouette more structure.
4. Confident ease: Ultimately, oversized fashion is about embracing ease and confidence. When proportions are balanced and the styling feels intentional, the result is relaxed yet sophisticated.

The art of the sheer: Transparency with sophistication

Sheer fabrics can feel intimidating, but Jaju suggests thoughtful layering for family gatherings:
1. Coordinated layers: A lightweight kurta or slip in a similar shade allows the sheer fabric to remain the focus while ensuring the outfit feels comfortable.
2. Proportional hemlines: I often prefer the inner kurta to be slightly shorter than the sheer outer layer so the top layer falls beautifully and creates a soft sense of movement.
3. Strategic sleeves: A sleeveless inner layer works beautifully under sheer long sleeves, while a fuller inner sleeve can add dimension if the outer layer is shorter.
4. Aesthetic restraint: In my opinion, the most important aspect of styling sheer fabrics is restraint. When the layering is subtle and the colours remain soft and harmonious, sheer pieces can feel graceful.

The palette of 2026: From dark hues to pastel power

Aisha Rao encourages men to move from darker, heavier hues to lighter, breezier tones. Her guide to the new palette:

1. The Entry point: Ivory carries a timeless sophistication and works seamlessly in festive silhouettes allowing the craftsmanship to enhance the garment.
2. The 'old money' neutral: Beige has a refined, almost 'old money' charm, understated yet extremely polished.
3. Sophisticated brights: Butter yellow and pastel pink carry a gentle warmth that tends to flatter a wide range of skin tones while still feeling sophisticated, they bring a subtle brightness to festive dressing without becoming overpowering.
4. The seasonal refresh: Pistachio green has a refreshing quality that feels distinctly seasonal while still remaining elegant and versatile in menswear.
5. Narrative prints: Prints add a sense of movement and character while maintaining the brand’s signature narrative of whimsical couture.

The details that matter: Five essentials of quiet luxury

Jaju identifies the subtle details that elevate understated silhouettes:

1. Buttons: Handcrafted, mother-of-pearl, wood, or fabric-covered buttons bring thoughtful refinement.
2. Footwear: Embroidered juttis, minimal sandals, or sleek loafers anchor the outfit while keeping it festive.
3. Watches: A classic watch adds a touch of sophistication without stealing focus.
4. Waist accessories: Belts or fabric cords can define shape in oversized kurtas or jackets.
5. Accents: Tonal pocket squares or subtle brooches inject personality and polish.

The endurance test: Morning prayer to evening dinner

To keep a linen outfit looking fresh through a long day of celebrations, Jaju recommends:
1. The initial press: Start with a gentle press so the garment begins the day with clean lines.
2. Embrace the texture: Linen naturally develops soft creases, when it’s well pressed initially, those creases tend to look relaxed rather than messy.
3. Smart blends: Choosing linen blends instead of pure linen is another option, as the blend often holds its shape a bit better.
4. Modular layering: A lightweight jacket or vest can subtly cover areas that crease more easily and also allows you to adjust your look throughout the day.

Aisha Rao concludes, “The intention of this season is to create menswear that feels soft and playful while still maintaining a sharp, confident presence."

In 2026, festive fashion has evolved into a blend of heritage and modern maximalism, where tradition meets tech and stability meets style.

Whether you are hosting a traditional chowki, visiting friends for a festive meal, or attending a serene aarti, the way you accessorize tells a story of devotion and personal style. To help you navigate this period, we’ve gathered exclusive insights from fashion experts. Here is how to transform your festive wardrobe into a masterpiece of light, even if your feet never leave the ground.

The 360-degree philosophy

According to Paridhi Patodia and Shrishti Agarwal, founders of the artisanal label Parishri, the magic of Navratri styling lies in the unexpected. While many focus solely on the neckline, Patodia argues that because you are constantly moving and spinning, your outfit must work from every perspective.

"Most people focus only on earrings or a necklace, but the real magic often comes from the accessories that people don’t think about," she explains.

To achieve a truly complete look, the duo recommends these six essential additions:
1. The Kamarband
A gold-plated kamarband (waist belt) adds immediate structure. Even the simplest ghagra or sari is transformed into a styled, festive ensemble once the waist is defined.
2. Payal
In a festival defined by footwork, payal (anklets) are essential. A delicate gold-plated payal adds a subtle elegance that highlights your movement on the dance floor.
3. Back jewellery
With many modern cholis featuring deep-cut backs, this negative space is a canvas. A gold-plated back chain or pendant falling along the spine ensures you look striking even when your back is turned to the crowd.
4. Haathphool
A haathphool highlights their grace and adds richness without the cumbersome weight of heavy bangles.
5. Baju bandh
For those wearing sleeveless or short-sleeved blouses, the baju bandh (armlets) offers a regal, traditional frame for the arms.
6. Hair accessories
Don't neglect the crowning glory. Woven gold-plated chains or pins in a braid pull the entire look together, making it feel curated rather than accidental.

The 2026 trend: modern maximalism

As we move through 2026, the trend of ‘Modern Maximalism’ is taking centre stage. Rushin Jhaveri, co-founder of Modera, explains that this involves bold, layered styling with a contemporary edge, "We are seeing a shift where traditional lehengas are elevated by metallic belts and geometric chains.” Interestingly, technology is also finding a place in our jewellery boxes. “Tech-integrated accessories—pieces that can hold digital memories or connect to personal stories—are emerging, bringing a modern dimension to the festival while respecting its cultural spirit,” he adds. This manifests in digital heirlooms—sculptural pieces embedded with near-field tech that link to personal memories or micro-LED fibres woven into traditional threadwork to mimic the soft glow of a festive lamp.

Building the Navratri capsule accessory kit

If you are starting from scratch, Jhaveri, suggests focusing on versatility. You don't need a hundred pieces; you need the right five. Here are his essentials for transitioning through nine nights:
1. Statement jhumkas: These anchor the look. Their sculptural movement frames the face and pairs effortlessly with both lehengas and fusion wear.
2. The choker necklace: Highly adaptable for any neckline. Look for kundan, polki, or enamel detailing for richness.
3. Stackable bangles: Mix textures like mirror-work and oxidised finishes to add sound, sparkle, and energy to your dance.
4. Statement maang tikka: A piece that is neither too minimal nor too bridal can instantly elevate a simple ghagra-choli.
5.The kamarband: Beyond aesthetics, it secures your dupatta, allowing you to move freely.

The art of the mix: Rules for layering

How do you mix gold, oxidised silver, resham (threadwork), and mirror-work without looking cluttered? Patodia and Agarwal offer a simple golden rule: Balance.
1. The anchor piece: Choose one statement piece (like a bold choker) and build around it with lighter elements.
2. Layer for depth: Instead of one heavy necklace, layer a choker with a longer pendant. This adds depth without the physical weight.
3. Spread the sparkle: Don’t concentrate all your jewellery around the neck. By spreading elements to your waist (kamarband) and anklets (payal), the look feels balanced and effortless.

High stability style

"Navratri is as much an athletic event as it is a fashion showcase," notes Jhaveri. To ensure your jewellery stays on through the day and doesn't cause discomfort, he shares these pro-stability tips:
1. Weight distribution: Choose lighter constructions like hollow or openwork designs to keep pieces from feeling heavy.
2. The ear chain secret: Use ear chains (saharas) for heavy jhumkas to hook into the hair and distribute weight.
3. The glue trick: Use a tiny drop of eyelash glue to keep your maang tikka centred, and secure it with crossed bobby pins.
4. Stay close: Chokers and fitted bangles stay more stable during movement than loose, dangling pieces.

Navratri is a celebration of energy, colour, and movement. Whether you are leaning into the regal warmth of gold-plated pieces or experimenting with tech-integrated modern maximalism, the goal remains the same: to enhance your natural energy. As our experts suggest, when styled thoughtfully, even a few well-chosen pieces can transform a simple outfit into a mesmerising festive masterpiece.

The show was envisioned to empower not confine; and inspire the modern Indian woman to move forward, staying rooted and carrying her heritage with pride. The rich ‘kaarigari’ will be complemented by Aggarwal’s handloom fabrics, vintage Banarasi textiles and contemporary mirrorwork thus creating a contemporary dialogue between tradition and innovation.

“Orizon” is conceived as a narrative of transformation. Light marks a rare moment of change, and the collection traces the shift from shadow to radiance -- an inner journey that moves from introspection to stepping confidently into the light. Through this progression, tradition awakens into modern expression, revealing form, feeling and purpose with renewed clarity.

Rooted in a shared reverence for innovation and emotional resonance, the collaboration between Indriya and Amit Aggarwal reflects a contemporary dialogue between heritage and evolution, structure and sensation, memory and modernity. At the heart of the partnership lies a shared belief that tradition does not confine creativity but equips it, serving as a living language that empowers new forms of expression.

The runway presentation unfolded as a visual narrative of light and form. It began with Indriya’s refined diamond pieces in minimal compositions capturing the first hints of illumination, gradually transitioning into statement Polki and gold creations where traditional forms were reimagined through contemporary geometry. The show echoed Indriya’s heritage stories of India to life through modern expressions of jewellery. Designed to empower the modern Indian woman — one who draws confidence and identity from her cultural roots - the runway brought together Indriya’s luminous interpretation of Polki and the sculptural silhouettes of Amit Aggarwal.

A defining highlight of the show was Indriya’s re-interpretation of Polki through the exploration of light, colour, and fluidity. Indriya’s master kaarigars brought exceptional craftsmanship to the forefront, moving beyond conventional techniques through the samosa dart setting — a distinctive method where the angular structure beneath each Polki stone enhances light reflection, creating a heightened brilliance and ethereal glow.

Further elevating the show was Indriya’s bold pairing of Polki with a captivating palette of tare gemstones including vivid tourmalines, deep tanzanites, rich sapphires, classic rubies and South Sea pearls. Even carved stones were layered with delicate “kissing” Polki elements, adding intimacy and dimensionality to each piece. This interplay of colour and light brought depth and individuality to every design, reinforcing the brand’s philosophy of jewellery as an experiential art to be experienced.

Innovative techniques such as wall-prong and corner-bezel settings minimised the visibility of metal, allowing gemstones to appear almost suspended — creating an aesthetic of weightless elegance. Through these distinct pillars of exceptional quality, reflective brilliance, innovative use of colour and modern fluid designs, the presentation redefined traditional Polki for the discerning, modern connoisseur as an evolving expression of legacy, artistry, and light.

At its core, Orizon traced a journey from introspection to radiance, where light became a metaphor for transformation. The presentation progressed from quiet brilliance to bold luminous expressions, mirroring the wearer’s evolution from inward reflection to confident self-expression.

Sandeep Kohli, CEO, Indriya, Aditya Birla Jewellery, said, “Lakmé Fashion Week was a powerful canvas to express how Indriya is redefining Polki and diamond for a new era through design superiority and modern intent. Our jewellery, elevated by design innovation, illuminated the runway, presenting a narrative where heritage is not a constraint, but a source of empowerment, one that allows tradition to evolve. This jewellery narrative came alive in dialogue with Amit Aggarwal’ sculptural
silhouettes, crafted from upcycled Banarasi weaves and mirror work, which set the visual language of the show. Together with Amit Aggarwal, we presented a new expression of Indian craftsmanship that feels modern and empowered, created for women who carry heritage forward."

Parallel to this narrative, Amit Aggarwal approaches design as a process of evolution. Titled “Orizon", the showcase unfolds as a carefully constructed visual journey. It begins in restraint and shadow, symbolising moments of inward reflection and quiet strength. Gradually, jewel tones, reflective surfaces, crystal embellishments and reinterpreted heritage textiles begin to emerge. As light interacts with form, the narrative evolves into one of confidence and self-expression.

The presentation culminates in softened metallics and luminous hues, evoking a refined, contemporary bridal sensibility where softness and strength coexist. Orizon becomes a metaphor for transformation—a moment where inherited tradition meets personal awakening, allowing the wearer to step into a more empowered self.

Speaking about the ensemble, Amit Aggarwal says, “Bringing ‘Orizon’ to life at Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI was about capturing a moment of transformation. Conceived as a journey of evolution, seeing the collection unfold on the runway reaffirmed how craft continues to grow through emotion, innovation and collaboration. Working with Indriya, Aditya Birla Jewellery, allowed us to create a seamless dialogue between garment and jewellery, where both complemented one another to shape a unified narrative of transformation. The synergy between both the brands presenting ensembles is defined by precision, crafismanship, and modern allure.”

Disha Patani took centre stage as the showstopper, adorned in Indriya’s captivating jewellery, paired with Amit Aggarwal’s sculptural couture. Her presence brought Orizon to life, embodying a powerful expression of heritage reimagined, where tradition meets modernity in a luminous, contemporary form.

Within this evolving narrative, garments and jewellery remain in constant dialogue. Sculpted silhouettes and sensorial adornment complement one another, each carrying its own emotional and visual language while enhancing the presence of the other. The result is a series of ensembles that feel immersive, intentional and complete.

Through this association, L’ Atelier 1664 and Abraham & Thakore collaborated on a series of curated experiences across fashion, design and culture. The initiative aims to celebrate craftsmanship, creativity and modern expressions of style by connecting Parisian elegance with Indian design thinking.

A play on the word sartorial, 'Sari’torial' brings together the ease of the sari with the precision of tailoring, integrating stitched and unstitched forms, as well as masculine and feminine elements. The garments are designed to be layered, adaptable and quietly distinctive.

With this collaboration, L’Atelier 1664 aimed to reflect the philosophy of '1664 Blanc — Good Taste with a Twist'. As a lifestyle platform, it brings together tastemakers from fashion, design and cuisine to create immersive cultural experiences that celebrate individuality, creativity and refined living.

The collection was brought to life through graphic surface patterns developed through techniques such as hand block printing, pintucks, pleating and embroidery developed across handwoven textiles, luxe silks and handspun cottons. A restrained palette of black and white, offset with L’Atelier 1664’s signature blue and subtle accents of gold, creates a visual language that is both graphic and timeless.

Abraham & Thakore, who are known for their distinctive approach to Indian design, enjoyed combined traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. For more than three decades, the design house has been recognised for its understated elegance, clean silhouettes and thoughtful use of textiles. At the heart of their philosophy is the idea of creating clothing for “all the days you’re not getting married” — a perspective that continues to shape their approach to modern Indian fashion through thoughtful, wearable and enduring design.

Speaking about the association, Partha Sarathi Jha, who is the vice president, Marketing, Carlsberg India shared, “Z ‘Atelier 1664 was created as a platform that brings together culture, design and contemporary lifestyle.
The visionary designer duo, added, “This association with L’Atelier 1664 reflects a meeting of sensibilities - French art de vivre and the richness of Indian craftsmanship. With the opening night showcase. Khanna set the tone for the season and presented a collection that balanced versatility, craftsmanship and contemporary glamour on the runway.

The collection focused on garments that could be styled, layered and worn in multiple ways, reflecting a relaxed yet confident design approach. The runway clothes highlighted ease in shape and the freedom of versatile separates designed for contemporary wardrobes. From draped dhoti pants and ruffled asymmetric tops to relaxed co-ord sets and floor-length gowns, the silhouettes balanced comfort with visual impact. The garments moved effortlessly between statement dressing and everyday wearability, offering pieces that felt adaptable without losing their distinctive character.

At its core, the collection also explored the quiet beauty of what feels misplaced, much like a flower growing where it does not seem to belong. Each piece reflected emotional rawness, hand-painted imperfection and the idea that scars, irregularities and disruptions can come together to create something unexpectedly beautiful. In many ways, the collection became an experiment in belonging, where the unusual eventually feels right.

This narrative unfolded through experimental compositions and hand-painted textures that balanced softness with boldness. Unfinished details, asymmetry and gentle distortions transformed perceived flaws into poetic design elements. Bold graphics inspired by flowers and nature appeared alongside intricate hand embroidery and 3-D embroidery mixed with gold zari work. Bright, exotic colours and draped silhouettes further amplified the visual language of the collection, celebrating imperfection as a form of authenticity while redefining beauty through irregularity and emotion.

A thoughtfully developed colour palette guided the mood of the collection. Soft ecrus and warm browns gradually transitioned into dusty pinks and deep blacks, creating a visual narrative that felt sensual, warm and quietly bold. The tonal progression added depth to the garments while allowing the craftsmanship and silhouettes to take centre stage.

Surface detailing appeared through intricate hand embroidery, lending texture and refinement to the pieces. The collection also introduced playful alternatives to fur, which added movement and dimension across select garments, bringing a subtle sense of drama to the runway.

A notable addition this season was the introduction of menswear within the AK|OK universe. The menswear pieces echoed the relaxed yet elevated aesthetic of the collection, offering contemporary silhouettes that complemented the label’s established design language while expanding its creative direction.

Speaking about the collection, designer Anamika Khanna said, “Our new collection celebrates Indian women in all shapes and sizes, and we have also focused on sustainability in fashion through our carefully selected fabrics, colours and crafts. This season, we are presenting a line of fluid garments through flattering silhouettes and glamorous finish for occasion wear and red carpet looks. The newest addition is our statement-worthy menswear range, which is a perfect add for a modern men’s wardrobe.”

Across the runway, the garments reflected a design philosophy rooted in fluidity and versatility. The silhouettes allowed space for individual expression, encouraging styling combinations that could shift seamlessly between occasions.

The show opened the fashion week on March 19 at the Jio World Convention Centre, featuring Countrymade, Dhruv Vaish, Sahil Aneja and Vivek Karunakaran.

Countrymade by Sushant Abrol presented "Cenotaph", inspired by the architecture of memorial cenotaphs, spaces where remembrance takes form. The collection featured faded olives, scorched browns, oxidised bronze and stark black-and-white tones. Techniques such as mud-resist printing, cold pigment dyeing, bronze patina, kantha, raw-edged appliques and coatings that mimicked withered stone suggested the passage of time and erosion.

It only got more mesmerising as Dhruv Vaish’s collection "The Blueprint" explored how cities reveal themselves through patterns like grids of streets, intersecting crossings, scaffolding lines and shifting terrains. The designer translated these quiet urban systems into contemporary menswear, where seam lines echoed the logic of roads and geometric panelling reflected temporary architectures. Fabrics such as linen, cotton denim and printed silk formed the base of the garments.
