At Pandurang Wadi Cross lane 5 and 4 in Goregaon, people can be found standing on footpaths at night and drinking and smoking till the wee hours. There is a pan shop where motorists stop to buy cigarettes and park in the narrow lane causing inconvenience to other vehicle owners. Kindly help us find a resolution to this.

The only Pay & Use Toilet on Platform No 1 at Andheri Station (West), towards the north, has been abruptly shut down for more than one year causing hardship to commuters. Those boarding/alighting trains on Platform No 1 have no facility to relieve themselves in an emergency, thus causing great inconvenience. The railway authorities should immediately look into the matter and restore the toilet for the benefit of bona fide commuters.

A stall next to the CCI Club at Churchgate has become a menace. It produces mounds of garbage, attracting flies and customers block the way for others to walk here. Bikes too are being parked here now. Senior citizens don't have space to walk and have to go on the road. Requesting your help in the matter.

At Mahakali Caves Road, Andheri (East), the footpath opposite McDonald's has been encroached by illegal shops, and a temple. Residential houses with toilets, have been constructed on the footpath. There is no place for people to walk, forcing them onto the road. During peak morning and evening office hours, this makes it dangerous for pedestrians to walk alongside traffic. We demand the immediate demolition of these illegal shops/houses.

There is an illegal pre-school operating from a residential building. Despite 67 emails, repeated site visits by BMC officials, and months of continuous follow-up, the illegal activity continues. This reflects a failure of enforcement and complete disregard for the grievances of law-abiding citizens. If BMC lacks the authority to stop such an illegal activity, kindly confirm the same in writing.

There is a need for the authorities concerned to clear the garbage bin on Janata Society at Raigad Chowk, Ghatkopar (East) as it is prone for diseases for residents of the area. The authorities must clear and lean the garbage bin and the neighbouring areas as it has become a home for mosquitoes, rodents etc.

BMC responds: A senior civic official told mid-day, "We will forward the complaint to the department concerned so it can be addressed on priority." On manhole covers, BMC said "BMC has been checking every single manhole across the city. This is at the ward level."

BMC responds: A senior civic official said, "The issue is noted. We will clear the garbage and examine if the issue persists. Also, this week, the administration has been directed a crackdown against health safety violations against all restaurants."

BMC responds: A senior official from the R/Central ward said, "During the monsoon, we give permission to some kind of shops and establishments to constrict temporary monsoon sheds. We will check if the specifications of permission given are followed in this case or not, or if any kind of safety is being compromised."

BMC responds: An official said, "Specific complaints regarding missing footpaths, or slack in trimming trees must be highlighted to the local ward office, or on call to the BMC helpline 1916." Another official said, "If citizens wish to highlight design flaws regarding footpaths, their suggestions are welcome."

Response: An official told mid-day, "Mumbaikars can lodge complaints on the MARG (Management and Redressal of Grievances) portal: https://portal.mcgm.gov.in/irj/portal/anonymous/qlcomplaintreg?guest_user=english. They can also call 1916. But they need to give specific details of the problems, the location, and clear photos if available."
