Rooney's return will help against 'improved' Blackburn, says Ferguson
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has warned his players not to get carried away by predictions that the champions are certain to retain the Premier League title.
With second-placed Liverpool not in action against Manchester City until Sunday, in-form United will open up an eight-point lead at the top if they beat Blackburn at home today.
England striker Wayne Rooney will boost United's title charge by starting his first league game since early January after proving he is over his hamstring injury by making a goalscoring contribution as a substitute in the 3-0 win over Fulham on Wednesday. Ferguson insisted Rooney's return would give his side a lift. "He's fine and he'll play. It will be good to have him back. It will be a difficult game because Blackburn have improved recently."
However, Ferguson, who has masterminded 10 Premier League title triumphs during his time in charge at the club, insisted he's not ready to celebrate yet despite United's 14-match unbeaten streak in the league. "We never get carried away. If we do that then the likelihood is that you will get kicked in the teeth," he said.
