100 disabled persons registered with employment exchanges

One hundred persons with disabilities were registered with the Special Employment Exchanges in Aizawl, Lunglei and Saiha during 2015-16, state Social Welfare Minister P C Lalthanliana said

Aizawl: One hundred persons with disabilities were registered with the Special Employment Exchanges in Aizawl, Lunglei and Saiha during 2015-16, state Social Welfare Minister P C Lalthanliana on Monday said.


In a written reply to a question from Lalrinawma of the opposition Mizo National Front (MNF), Lalthanliana said 69, 21 and 15 people with disabilities were registered with Aizawl, Lunglei and Saiha Special Employment Exchanges respectively. He added that 25 people with disabilities were being given unemployment allowances by the state government.


In reply to another query, Lalthanliana said there were 29 students in the Special Blind School in Durtlang near Aizawl run by the Samaritan Society but the salaries of the 10 teachers and one non-teaching staff were being paid by the Social Welfare department. He said nine boys and 11 girls have passed High School Leaving Certificate examination from the school.
