10,000 political banners pulled down by PMC

At a time when the model of code of conduct is in force in the city for the upcoming civic polls in February, the encroachment department is pulling down thousands of political banners and flex boards. The department began a drive for the purpose a couple of days ago.

At a time when the model of code of conduct is in force in the city for the upcoming civic polls in February, the encroachment department is pulling down thousands of political banners and flex boards. The department began a drive for the purpose a couple of days ago.u00a0

More than 10,000 illegal hoardings have been removed so far.u00a0"On Thursday alone we have removed nearly 5,000 hoardings, banners, posters and flags of various political parties in the drive held for more than seven hours in the various parts of the city," said Ramesh Shelar, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Encroachment Officer, PMC.u00a0

"In just two days we have removed more than 10,000 hoardings, which were making the city look ugly. The drive will be held on a daily basis till February 16, the day on which voting is to be held.u00a0


"Even if we remove such hoardings, people again display it and that is the reason we have to hold this drive on a daily basis," said Shelar.
