The city has thrown up another case that spotlights the vexing issue of sexual violence perpetrated by juveniles. Cops on Wednesday arrested 14-year-old twins from Dahisar for molesting a schoolgirl. The accused brothers had molested the 10-year-old victim who shares their neighbourhood on two separate occasions.
The boys have been sent to the Dongri observation home for juveniles. The incident came to light only because of the victim’s teacher’s intervention. “The girl turned quiet and wouldn’t talk to anyone. Her teacher noticed the sudden change in her behaviour and decided to find out what was wrong,” said Suresh Kilje, senior inspector of MHB police station. “The duo has been sent to Dongri children’s home.”

According to the MHB Colony police, the victim is a Std V pupil who lives in Dahisar (W) with her family. The boys are Std IX students of a school in the western suburb. Early in 2012, one of the twins called the victim to a playground behind the housing colony and started kissing her.
Taken aback, she wrested herself free and ran away. Again, in November the same year, his brother allegedly touched her inappropriately.Police sources said after the incidents, the victim was unable to concentrate on her studies and stopped speaking with everyone in the class. On February 20, one of her concerned teachers took her aside and asked her if anything was the matter.
The girl narrated what she had been through. The teacher then got in touch with her parents and advised them to lodge a police complaint. The girl’s father approached the MHB Colony police station and filed a case on Wednesday. The siblings were arrested the same day. The duo has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force on woman) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty) of the IPC and sections 4, 8, 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. u00a0
