15-yr-old rescued from brothel in Budhwar Peth

Three pimps, including a Bangladeshi national, were arrested from Budhwar Peth on Saturday by the officials of the Faraskhana police station for allegedly forcing a 15-year-old girl into prostitution.

The arrested trio was identified as Neela Nayak (40), Laxmi Kanadi (40), residents of Budhwar Peth, and Bangladeshi national Manik, suspected of bringing the girl to Pune and selling her to Nayak and Kanadi.u00a0


“We received a tip-off that in particular building in the red light area of Budhwar Peth, two women pimps have been running a prostitution racket and a 15-year-old girl from Bangladesh was forced into the flesh trade,” Senior Inspector Bhanu Pratap Barge of the Faraskhana police station said.


He said its was based on this information that building was raided and the minor was rescued. The girl was later sent to the Rescue Foundation in Hadapsar.


“Manik, who is a Bangladeshi, brought her to the city’s red light area and sold her to these two brothel owners,” Barge said. u00a0
