At least 153 persons, on board a Nigerian plane, are believed to be dead after it crashed into a residential area in Lagos Sunday.

At least 153 people are feared to have died when a passenger plane carrying them crashed into a building in a residential area of Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos Sunday.u00a0

The crash set three houses afire, said a rescue officer.u00a0

Besides the passengers and crew on the plane, residents of the houses may add to the number of persons killed or injured in the crash.

The Dana Air flight crashed into a building, said Akande Iyiola, an official related to Nigeria's Emergency Management Agency.u00a0

An emergency official said around 10 burnt bodies had been removed from a damaged building and were thought to be separate from passengers.u00a0

President Goodluck Jonathan declared three days of national mourning for victims of the horrific crash and pledged an investigation as rescuers rushed to pull out survivors from the neighbourhood near the airport.
