Sentenced to life imprisonment, which was to serve at Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail, after being found guilty of planting the bomb inside the local, he was granted parole in 2007 but never returned to jail and has been absconding since.


A team of Phagwara Police in Punjab arrested Singh in Maheru village during an Independence Day security drill for possession of drugs. Upon interrogation, during which he initially named himself as Swaran Singh, Ravinder eventually confessed to actually living under a fake identity.
