City police have booked three partners of a private company for allegedly duping two companies of Rs 53 lakh by promising them huge returns through data entry processing. The case was registered against Rajesh Jain, Ashwin Ramesh and Pankaj Chouhan of R P Virtual Vision Softcon private limited company.

Cheat sheet
Jain used to approach companies as a consultant and promise them data entry outsourcing worth crores of rupees. But the condition was that the sanctioned amount would be released only if the job was completed within the stipulated time. Owing to the lucrative offer, the company used to accede to their demands and pay the former crores as consultation charges. On the other hand the trio used to bribe the existing employees of the client company to jeopardise their work by promising them double income if they created trouble at the time of submission.

Police Inspector Maya Banker of Shivajinagar Police station, who registered a case against three under IPC 420 and IT act 2000 section 66 (1) and (2) for data manipulation said, "We suspect that they were duping the companies on two counts. First by asking the company to pay consultation fees and secondly by allegedly recruiting such people who will see to it that the work will not get complete within the set time frame."

Fraud revealed
The fraud was allegedly revealed after Director of Element Tech Solutions (ETS) Christopher Paul found call transactions between two of their employees and the company director with whom they had signed the deal with. When all the four directors grilled these two employees, they immediately spilled the beans and finally confided to their bosses that Jain and his partner had allegedly asked them to deliberately delete files or infest system with viruses so that they would not be able to meet the deadline. Nitin Jawalkar, director ETS said, "The trio allegedly ensured that their work would never get completed on time so that they could get away with consultation fees without paying our bills."

According to the police, Jain's company cheated them of Rs Rs 26 lakhs. Kaustubh Pisalkar, director ETS said, "The company also duped Government of India by providing false address to Ministry of Corporate Affairs and duped many companies by claiming that it has an ISO 9001-2000 certification when the website shows that their certification is pending."
